sub - thanks, I've determined the choppy playback is unrelated to the HDHR itself and have some other potential solutions.

My next problem - I get a crash when trying to map EPG channels on the **second** tuner. On the first one - mapping EPG channels works just fine. I tried manually copying the tuning details from the first tuner to the second, but that doesn't seem to work. I've attached the specific error and the logs.

Since the HDHR drivers change the driver name for each instance, you need to setup both capture sources as device #1. You currently have one set as device #2.

sub - thanks, was unaware of that. Presumed I'd have to do device #2 based off my experience with the PVR500.

Seems (other than the PVRX2 bug and my hardware shortcomings) that I have the HDHR setup going pretty well. Now off to shop for some new video card hardware.

Wasn't sure where to post this but I see the latest Beta Firmware/Setup for HDHR sets up GBPVR BDA and QAM automagically.

http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2484

Release 20090527beta1

HDHomeRun Setup:
- GBPVR: Automatically add HDHomeRun tuners to the GBPVR bda.ini file.
- GBPVR: Automatically add digital cable channels that contain unencrypted programs to GBPVR qam.ini file.

- MediaPortal: Filter digital cable channels to only report channels that contain unencrypted programs.

Tried it out....seems to work very well.

Great googlimoogly! I just downloaded an update for the third time in 4 days. They are moving fast aren't they. I guess the problems it's causing GBPVR have them concerned.

Wish it would work for me. I still think Windows Media Center likes to play games with my system.
Jason did post this:
The 20090527beta1 release creates a custom qam.ini that only includes channels that have enabled, unencrypted channels present in them. This greatly speeds up the scan time because GB-PVR does not need to go through the other 100+ channels that contain analog TV, only encrypted programs, or nothing.

Does this still need to be done?

whurlston Wrote:1.3.7 introduced native PID filtering for the HDHomeRun. To enable it on the HDHomeRun side, you need to to the following:

  1. Run HDHomeRun Setup.
  2. Set the application to "Custom".
  3. Close HDHomeRun Setup.
  4. Run Regedit and browse to the following key:
    Code:
    HKEY_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\Tuners\<device id>-<tuner index>
  5. Set the following values for each tuner that you want to use with GBPVR:
    • "BDAPIDFilter=Enabled"
    • "ChannelMapping=Filter"

You will also need to set the channel changer to "None" in GBPVR Config if you were using my PID filter program.

Nope. The latest HDHomerun software should set all the proper registry settings automatically when you set the application to GBPVR.

All you really need to do is follow these instructions: http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5449

Is this HD Homerun device really better than having 2 tuners in your PC? If so, why?
I have 2 tuners and if this device would makes things easier/faster/better, then explain how.

It all depends on your setup. The HDHomeRun can be advantageous in various situations:

  1. You don't have room for additional tuners in your machine.
  2. You want to buy a dual tuner but want to use it with multiple machines (not so important in regards to GBPVR which supports server/client setup).
  3. Your cable/antenna is located away from your machine can you can't or don't want to run coax.
  4. You want to minimize the length of coax from the antenna to minimize signal loss.

Then of course there are those people like me who got it when it was first released just because it was different/unique. Big Grin
