When I ran the helper in the /root directory it installed into /root/nextpvr and the service pointed there. I prefer to keep my programs in /opt so I cd /opt and it installed to /opt/nextpvr and the service pointed to that.
Service still works but "they" say it is being phased out in favor of systemctl. They seem to be interchangeable as of 19.04, kind of like apt and apt-get.
Just pointing out how easy you made it for us dummies.
Now my problem seems to be codecs, I am using a Hauppauge hvr-1270/1250 tuning clear QAM from my cable. Some channels (the SD) either don't play at all or play audio only with a black or green screen to Kodi on RPi. Tvheadend plays the same channels fine.
Nextpvr on the windows machine plays fine to Kodi. I am trying to get everything on the Ubuntu server and I find Tvheadend too complicated.
Are there codecs I need for 19.04? Another reason to revert to 18.04?
This is not clear. The deb installer should install to /opt/nextpvr and /opt/dotnet with the data in /var/opt/nextpvr. There was one condition sub wanted and that was the default recording folder needed to be in the /home/user folder for the installing user. It is not based on the current directory so I cannot see how anything got put in root perhaps that was leftover from another install.
Although this is my first deb and service and quite new to me I cannot see service being phased out soon.
No codecs are required by NextPVRServer or Kodi. Is TVH installed on the same server?

If you try to record on those channel, does it create a file?
