Hi there been reading this forum for a couple of days now - quite interesting. But am having problems setting up WDM drivers.

I noted previous posts to this thread that the plugin doesnt work on 0.97 - if so its a bit of a shame really, because thats all I can find to download Sad

Am just trying GBPVR out really - I have the Tv card (a Pinnacle Rave) working quite happily using Mythtv on a linux box (Mandriva 2006) and its really excellent. Though its let down by a (IMO) poor front end on the MVP.

Does anyone know of a solution out there please? Is there an ftp site you can download back releases from?

Rowle1jt,

not sure if I can help you but I've had these errors on two occassions:
1. The cross bars were not set properly because I manually adjusted it, meaning that one or more of parameters of the WDM plugin is incorrect
2. the interaction between the guide and the plugin

My bet is on the plugin parameters. Play around with it by using the RecorderTest.exe supplied in the zip file.

Another thing to try is using Media player classic to access your tuner. I found this to be quite helpful. In MPC once the tuner device is active, right click and look at the filters. Adjust them if necessary.

Finally try switching between ovelay and vmr9.

Good luck

When trying to setup the configuration of the capture source I get this .NET error:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

same here with new version...doesn't show in capture sources in 0.97.7
hope you can get it upgraded soon Normanr..
i've been working on the code to set the parameters of the encoders,should work with any ds filters with a properties box..[from dshownet sources] i actually found a little app that does just that [but for tuner options only] so will see if i can get the source from author..
Don't eat too much this weekend! Smile

ubu has been kind enough to do a .net 2.0 recompile of the plugin for me (as I don't have .net 2.0 installed yet). It should be posted on the wiki some time soon.

rowle1jt: you haven't configured the plugin yet. You need to open the 'Edit Recording Source' window, and click the 'Settings' button next to the 'WDM Software Encoder Recoder' item selected for the 'Recording Source'.

build 27 is out:

- Updated to support GBPVR .Net 2.0 updates.

Also added a minor tweak to remove the stack trace reported by rowle1jt.

The plugin is now also shown as "WDM Recording Plugin" to make it 'fit' into the GB-PVR plugin naming scheme better. There are some cards (don't ask which, I can't remember - there's one in this thread somewhere) that expose their hardware MPEG2 compression via WDM drivers, so this plugin should work for them too.

Normanr,

I am having trouble with the plugin. It shows as "WDM Recording Plugin (broken plugin loading pass through)". Is this right? Also, config keeps telling me to safe capture source which it appears to do when I set up Zap2it. I can't change any settings. Then when I go out and then back into config, the capture source is not there.

Any suggestings?

Bigbus
