I'm going to mess with this app and make it more robust, such as replacing & in TitleName with &, better timeout support, and try to get OTA guide data.
I have a friend I'm helping set up GBPVR 1.08 and he has the HVR1600, and I created custom channels for the ATSC channels that didn't map to DirecTV channels, but then these custom channels don't have guide data and therefore you can't switch to the channel in the TV Guide.

I also had an error where this app created 2 channel 648 entries, which caused Update EPG in the config app to log an error.
NPVR 4.1.0.180302 o Kodi 17.6 o EventGhost 0.5.0.rc4 o SAF 6.3.2 o SchedulesDirect

Thanks. After playing around for a bit I ended up installing the program into new directory and found that it worked once then failed on the next attempt. When I deleted the files it had created and ran it again it worked.

I looked at your source, but didn't see where this zlib.dll thing sprung-up from. Just stepping into this arena, and everyone must know what this dll is (because no one asked), but I don't. On first glance I didn't see any network instructions in your code...mostly file handling stuff. Does that dll do all of that? Who coded it and is that source available?

zlib is a common compression library. The EPG is sent in a zip format from Yahoo so this is required to decompress the file to extract the data.

Ah, thanks. I was so looking for where the API to Go TV was, I didn't figure that it was up to some other process to get the input file in the first place. That's the problem with arriving in the middle of something.

If it's not too dumb of a question, where would the input file come from if "It (the app of this topic) does not require you to have Yahoo!'s program installed"?

EDIT: I see now the calls to api.digitalhomeservices.yahoo.com in the form. I must have missed that in my first look at the code. Or maybe I skipped looking at the form, thinking, well, there would only be gui stuff in there (not a VB guy, obviously). Sorry for the noise.

Last time I looked at this once you have determined the listing ID it's really nothing more than a simple GET which gives you a zip file of the listings being requested.

Are there any updates to the Yahoo API version or is it a dead app? I like the idea of not having to install Yahoo GO for TV just to get listings but will if it is the best option.

I don't know the status of this project but another API-based solution can be found at: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=27800

I PMed the author. Hopefully he will post an update that includes the '&' character patch, as the API-based solution is lighter-weight than whulson's app.
Plus being open source is a bonus!
