Hello normanr

I've been having a strange problem since updating to the new external recorder; I can't think why it would be related to the plugin, but I've been wrong before.

Anyway, I now can't get myTheatre to record or to change channel (and it needs to set the channel to record) from a batch file using the channel number parameter. If I write the channel number straight into the batch file, then it records as it should, but if I use %1, and then set the variable and launch the batch file from the run command, or indeed try to use the external recorder channels in GBPVR, it just opens myTheatre to the channel it was set to on last use, and doesn't record.

Now this never was a problem before, and obviously buggers up everything I've been doing! I tried un- and reinstalling myTheatre but it didn't help. The only thing that might relate to the plugin in what's changed is the behaviour of the .exe changer in the channel changer options (which were once set to change the channel in myTheatre, using similar commands to the batch files).

Whereas before this didn't work at all, and stopped myTheatre from loading if it was selected, now when I tried it again, it did seem in certain circumstances to be working; though unfortunately it is not able to change the myTheatre channel when the plugin launches a batch file. Obviously I have deselected it again, but I wonder if in some way this has taken over control of the channel settings and is stopping my batch files from working properly. Is this possible, and if so, might it be related to any changes you made in the new version?

Unfortunately this problem has meant that I haven't yet been able to experiment with all the extra parameters and opportunities to launch batch files that your new plugin gives.

Thank you,

Frazer

One of the things that has changed, is that it no longer 'automatically' adds the channel number if it's not given in the parameter list. You'll have to add {channel} to the paramter list otherwise it won't get sent.

I have been using {channelnumber}- is this right now? Presumably, this would not be the cause of the fact that I can't now get the channel number parameter to work even when I run a batch file manually, would it? (i.e if I run ...mybatch.bat" {86}, where 86 is the channel number I want to launch)

Thanks

@normanr

Why did you stop support for /dur {minutes} in the external recorder plugin.
Mytheatre doesn`t starts recording without /dur {minutes}.

This is from Mytheatre helpfile

Command /record require options: /chname (or /chid of /chnum) /dur. /event is optional. If /event is omitted then current event name will be appended to file name (MyTheatre will wait up to 10 seconds to get current event info from satellite).

@ercuem

I think normanr answered this earlier in the thread in response to one of my quiestions; the recording duration possibility was taken out by sub, the GBPVR developer.

Have you had myTheatre running successfully straight from the External Recorder plugin then? I have found that myTheatre won't load properly from there with any plugins installed- do you know of any way around this, or are you just running myTheatre without plugins, or starting it separately?

Hy frazer

thank you for answering to my question

I solved the duration problem in a different way.
I`ve written to the command file /duration 1000 .This command is concigned of the externalrecorder plugin as /duration 1000.
And the recording works.

Which plugins do you mean.
I just use one plugin to decryt a few channels, and of cause the main Installed plugins which comes with mytheatre.

I have a decryption, DVBEPG plus the av broadcaster plugins; I have found that any of them causes myTheatre to stall on start-up when launched from GBPVR, but if I get the External Recorder plugin to launch a batch file instead, and change directory to the myTheatre folder as the first command, then it starts up properly. If myTheatre is already open before you try to record then I guess this wouldn't be a problem, which is why I wondered if that was what you are doing.

I know you need to include a "/dur" parameter of any length to get myTheatre to start recording, but have you tried using the stop executable/parameters in the new version of normanr's plugin to get myTheatre to stop recording at the right time?

Cheers,

Frazer

It was {channel}, it is still {channel}. If you want to test it from the command line it would be: run ...mybatch.bat" 86 (i.e. without the {}'s)

{minutes} was removed a while ago, sub pretty much told me not to depend on the value of the duration parameter. You could use {filenamewithoutextension} if you want an event name Smile (although that does include the datetime stamp too.)

everything works fine with the external recorder, just watching tv during recording is impossible for me.
I spend the whole night to solve this problem.
I tried out the whole night with different dvb Recording tools
eg.
Mytheatre,progdvb,dvbdream
If i try to start a second dvb recording tool to watching tv while the other is already recording. It popups an error message of the recording tools

I can`t understand why.
If i start a record manualy and try out to watch tv while the other is already recording, everything works fine.
I find out that the recordings made by externalrecorder, don`t let alter the process affininty.
But it works manualy.

I got two dvb card Twinhan and skystar 2

recording card1=recording card2 (at the same time works fine)
recording card1=pause card2 (at the same time works fine)
recording card1=watch tv card2 (at the same time, get an error message no matter which dvb tool)

best regard`s
Maybe important: I got the intel dualcore cpu 820 D - XP SP2 -1 gb ram
ATI X550 GK

i found out that is`nt possible with externalrecorder to use the same dvb recording programms twice.
eg progdvb twice.

if i would use mytheatre with progdvb everything is running like i want.
But it`s much harder to handle with remote and girder.I have to integrate two dvbprogramms into girder.
This is not very nice.

Why does external recorder or mayber gb-pvr not allowing two of the same dvbrecorders.
Is there a protection built in ?
and why just during watching tv and not during recording?
