dshoup Wrote:... I some times when I click on the Preview TV or Record TV buttons, I get the error “Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately”. There can then be a variety of things listed under this message such as “Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040217”, and “Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component”. Other times it brings up a video window, but there is not picture (window is black).

dshoup: I recall getting some sort of Exception. Not sure if the cause is the same as yours, but have you ensured that the GBPVR recording service is starting. By default, this service should be running, but when its turned off, I used to get an Exception. Not sure if it helps, but just thought I'd mention it.

Other than that, I did manage to use the graphRecorder plugin (derived from this softwareRecorder) plugin to watch TV (without sound) in GBPVR. I am able to watch, timeshift, record to mpeg file, schedule recording, etc. just don't have sound. Perhaps you may want to try that approach since you already have a working graph. I still need to figure out why I don't get sound, but that's progress from when my rendered graphs used to give me just a black window and hang graphedit.

Anyways, hope this helps,

Hi,

I did a fresh install of GB-PVR on W2K w/ MDAC 2.8, .Net 2.0 and all the patches. I had setup GBPVR to run successfully on this computer with the SoftwareRecorder Plugin but has to re-install things because of hard disk corruption issues after installing a windows update.

Anyways, have also installed the ATI All-in-Wonder and the same drivers (MMC 9.02) as before, but now I get an error (see attached logs). Event viewer also shows an error "GB-PVR recording service terminated unexpectedly...." with eventid 7031. Any idea what may be causing this?

I am unable to configure the SoftwareRecorder plugin even though its installed per instructions (as before). Is this because the GB-PVR recording service crashed?

Edit: I have also applied the Backendfix from elsewhere in this email and it does not make a difference.

Thanks for any help,

-Topper

Howdy! I'm just trying out GBPVR and I like it. I wanted to be able to use it to watch live TV using my Dazzle DVC80. Reading through prior posts here, it was stated that the Dazzle devices were not supported, although there were pointers to the SoftwareRecorder plug-in, which I understand is also no longer supported.

That said - after playing with the configuration some, I was able to get the video display (and it looks halfway decent, given this is a USB 1.0 device! Much better than any of the other TV viewing programs I've tried!), but I've not had any success getting the audio to come through. Would anybody be willing to help me play with the configurations some more to see if it's possible to get this working?

Unfortunately... there has been little success in getting this plug in to work for the past year or so. I think your best bet is to purchase a compatible tuner... Sad Sorry.

To use a graph directly use the graphRecorder plugin not the softwareRecorder.

Was rebuilding my system just as the new release came out. I'm having a hard time getting the WMR REcording Plugin to show up in the recording plugin drop down... anybody else have any luck?

The solution was to put all the plugin files in the root of the plugins folder (instead of in a subfolder). I thought I tried that the first time and it didn't appear to work but now it seems to be working.

Zap2It is not providing me with EPG data right now (I think they're just having server issues... no need to press the panic button... yet) so I can't verify that it is working but it is showing up in the config utility.

Will post if I have any more problems but so far it looks like the SoftwareRecoder plugin will work in the new 1.0.8 release.

Congrats! Smile

You are one of the very few that I have heard of that actually got it to work. I tried for a couple months a year ago... got fed up and said screw it and bought a PVR150. Big Grin

I was able to get the softwareRecording plugin working by putting it in both the plugin folder and in plugin/softwareRecorder. I also put the directshow file in the gbpvr directory but I'm not sure if that was necessary.

Long story short, when I try to use the new interface PVRX2 and the capturecard I'm using softwareRecorder with it bombs and says "there are no tuners available"... then when I try to tune to another channel it works but only because it thinks the software recorderd tuner card is busy and uses my other card (which uses hardware encoding). It works just fine in the old interface (version 1.0.8 also).

Any thoughts on what can be causing this or how to get around it?

create a PVRX2.exe.config file...[just a copy of the gbpvr.exe.config file]
tho i did change my dir to SoftwareRecorder as well..
you need it in both plugins\ and plugins\SoftwareRecorder\ for it to work in both .exe's...
confirmed, need the .config file in gbpvr\ AND the correct dir name in plugins...

[and carefull about the caps, it's picky]

to make nice preview deinterlacing, select ffdshow deinterlacer, and setup ffdshow 'raw video' codec to all 24bit and turn on ONLY deinterlacing [ffmpeg type] in ffdshow...now will have beautifull preview video with instantaneous channel changes..Big Grin
[faster than any other card i've seen,pvr150,etc..]
