Thanks Dave that shows exactly what I hoped. I have updated the jar file in post 6 with a version that should work with both SageTV and NextPVR. You can disable tuners in NextPVR on the Settings Screen by holding the ctrl key and that will reserve those tuners for SageTV. Maybe you can do the same with SageTV?

Thanks for your patience too.

Great news. I am at work right now, but looking forward to trying the new jar this evening when I get home. Selecting the tuners in sage is very easy to do. I am only using tuners 3 thru 6 for sage right now anyway. I was using tuners 1-2 on WMC, but disabled that when I began testing with NPVR.

Will post the results after I make the change this evening.

Thanks again,
Dave

Just tried the new jar. Same as before. If set to true NPVR works and sage does not. If set to false sade works and NPVR does not.
This is the opendct log with the new jar and the id set to true trying to tune a channel in sage.

I will try as soon as I can. Right now sage is being used by family. Should be able to try in about an hour or so.

Just had a chance to try the latest jar. Id set to true sage works NPVR does not.

Here are the logs for opendct and NPVR.

I don't even see the request from NextPVR coming in or the new log line that was in the last logs. In fact the last line in the opendct.log file is

21:17:39.190 [SageTVRequestHandler-82:Unknown] DEBUG SageTVRequestHandler - SageTV sent: 'QUIT'

which is before the line from NextPVR

2020-03-02 21:20:15.841 [DEBUG][11] Running: cmd /c ""C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts\opendct.bat" 709 "DCT-Ceton InfiniTV PCIe (00-80-9f-40) Tuner 1" 7823"

I wonder if SageTV shut down the OpenDCT service if you stopped SageTV?

Also if you run NextPVR first does it work?

Well I think we are just about there. Because of trying to run both sage and NPVR I disabled tuners 4 thru 6 on NPVR. Tuners 1-2 were already disabled on sage.

I had noticed before if I had the NextPVR Backend Status window open, that it seemed to always try tuner 6. I went back into NPVR and enabled all tuners. I did a test and had NPVR and sage open in multiple windows each playing a different channel. Sage was grabbing a tuner (3 or 4 I believe) and NPVR used tuner 6.  I am attaching the logs so that you can see what is going on. It appears that NPVR just grabs the tuners in reverse order.

Thanks for all your efforts on this.

Dave

The tuners in NPVR do have a priority. And for recordings it goes through the tuners in ascending priority and for live tv it goes through them in descending priority. So if you have all 6 tuners enabled in NPVR, haven't changed the priority order (so it goes 1 to 6), and don't have any tuners in use: a recording will use tuner 1 and watching live tv will use tuner 6.

That's what I am getting at. If I have just tuner 1 enabled, it tries to use tuner 6, if I am watching the NextPVR Backend status correctly. I think that is what we noticed looking at the logs, when I was first trying to use this method. I believe it thinks tuner 1 is tuner 6.
