Plex Channel for NextPVR

See screenshots attached when using Plex Home Theatre (default skin) as to what I mean 'folder icons' and the blank pre-play screen.

- Basically I have attached the initial menu when you go in to the channel, could be nice to have some icons we could upload or be pulled from the NextPVR server
- The next screen is when I have select Live TV, these channel logos look nice
- I then click on a channel that I wish to play, it takes me to a pre-play screen...it would be nice if this pre-play screen could have some useful information rather than just being blank, pulled out of the EPG for the or something?

The other thing is when I go in to a Recorded TV program one just sees the NextPVR logo rather than little PNG's from the actual program, not as big deal but would be nice if a image from the recorded file was render as an icon

Thanks for taking a look at what I mean, I think what you have developed is so close to being perfect for someone only wishing to use Plex Home Theatre but having nice polished access to their NextPVR system.

Of course it would be really nice if the Plex team could implement transcoding of TS files live stream (expanding) files (like the Emby/MediaBrowser team have managed) but that is something I still have my fingers crossed for.

In the XNEWA addon for Kodi/XBMC I can use VLC as my playing device (on the server) allowing me to transcode Live TV streams (as long as NEWA for NextPVR is set up correctly and one has VLC installed on the server etc.)....this works a treat for my XBMC/Kodi devices access Live TV streams that are not located in my LAN, would it be possible to add this functionality to the NextPVR Channel for Plex?

I am not sure why my iPhone plays the NextPVR Plex Add on with forced transcoding working (I kid you not it is running in my services at about 30% CPU time when playing a HD stream) but then on PHT (even with Force Transcoding selected) it will not play...it also insists on me having a VPN running...on the iPhone no such requirement....

Any ideas?

What does plex web do? The needing vpn sounds odd. I tend to test with plex/web and ipad clients mostly. Lately also with samsung smart tv plex client. But the last one is mostly for recorded content.

Hi, first post here. Please direct me to a sticky or other resource if my question can be answered elsewhere..

I'm a Plex user, for no other reason than that it does a better job of most of the things I want with less of my time required for setup & troubleshooting.

As many of you know, the big omission from Plex is support for Live & Recorded TV. Right now, I'm using WMC & MCE Buddy as a backend to get OTA TV from my HDHomerun in to Plex. It works ok, but I wouldn't call it great. For one thing, I can't delete shows through Plex. I have to go to WMC and delete them there.

What I'm wondering is whether nextpvr might do a better job as a backend - especially considering this Plex channel. I'd love to see is a summary of what the channel does & what it looks like.

Any thoughts or other help? Thanks!

Hi yes I should close off this one thread and generate a new one one each change now.

Main features are
Live TV with transcoding if needed
Access to view NextPVR recordings via what's new or series view
View what is upcoming
And a new addition of being able to delete a recording

I'd like to add show art (was working in that last night), not sure I'll ever be able to get an wph in there and schedule recordings but next pvr does have its own web interface and I don't want to replicate its functionality as its too difficult with the very limited UI elements available to a plex channel.

I've started working on the icons.

But not sure what to put for the main menu ones. And these look a little stupid.

You know this thread is going to get bigger and bigger the more people upgrade to windows 10.

So does this still exist? Can someone point me to the correct area if so?

Not sure what you mean, but yes the channel still exists.
