Quote:I have seen a couple of people posting about problems with the mini-guide in the latest release. I have been having a problem which I'm not sure is the same as other peoples: when I try to bring up the mini-guide, the panel comes up at the bottom of the screen as before, but without channel or programme issue. The full guide works fine both from the main menu and as an overlay in live tv mode, as does the normal osd.
Yes, this is a known bug in the current release.

Quote:Any ideas what could be causing this: I can't see anything relevant in the logs, otherwise I'd post an excerpt?
Its just an oversight. I made the OSD skinable in the v0.92 release, but forgot to finish the mini-guide. Its finished now, and will be included in a minor bug fix release some time in the next couple of days.

Well done with the new version. Love the What's New and Keep XX Recordings. Have tried 2 nova-t's now and can confirm tuning bug is fixed. Thanks

On the down side, I still have lots of recordings failing - similar problems to Herbs and Torque. I have tried with one nova-t for a few days, and then 2 nova-t's and get similar results. Every 2nd or 3rd recording produces an empty file and fails to stop at the end of the programme. The recording cannot be cancelled from gbpvr, I have to restart the recording service. This means following records aren't started, even when there are 2 tv cards in the system, and one is idle. Results are variable. Sometimes it records 4 or 5 programs no problem, then sometimes it seems to fail on every recording. To try and work out what is happening I regularly restart the PC and leave it without running anything, but cannot understand why I get such variable results.

I have attached a recordingservice.exe-native.log file from today where the first recording worked, and the second recording failed. I restarted the recording service before typing this, and it is already successfully recording another program???

Let me know if you require any further info.

What version of the cyberlink mux are you using? The error below makes me think it's not a recent one.

13:09:00.812 VERBOSE SetMuxInfo2() did not return S_OK

dneprrider Wrote:- Sometimes while stopping a recording or when the recording finishes playing, i'll get an error message that a reference object isn't set or something. Doesn't always happen though.

This is the same error I have been getting with this version. It happens each time I exit a recording and live TV. I haven't seen any of the other issues on my setup.

In order to track down the cause of this problem as per Sub's recommendation I removed all the plugin DLL's from my GBPVR/plugin directory and and put them back in one at a time to see which one if any caused the "object reference error" I have been getting with the latest version.

When myVideosplugin.dll (version 4.0.0.0) is located in the plugins folder the error exists and when it is removed the error does not exits. So on my system there appears to be an incompatibality with the myVideosplugin.dll.

I'll simply not use that plugin for now and continue to enjoy the latest great version of GBPVR.

I too have some recordings failing. Usually it only happens when two recordings are going together, the recordings don't stop at the end of the program. (The file size stops growing, but the GB-PVR status shows both cards as still recording) The only way to release the Nova's is to restart the recording service, then everything is ok again.

During my recent upgrade from Win2k to XP Pro I also upgraded the Cyberlink mux to version 5.something (the version that sub recommends) This caused recording service to crash a lot during recordings, on my (previously stable) win2k system and now on XP. I downgraded back to the old version of the Cyberlink mux (4.0.0.2122) and recording service is stable again, it just doesn't finish recordings properly.

Hope that helps, I'll get some logs posted.

I am using mpgmux.ax 5.0.0.727 from FlyDVB-T. It was recommended in the forums somewhere.

Do you think it is worth removing this and installing Showshifter ? In another reply, Simon recommends using 'Cyberlink mux (4.0.0.2122)'. I may try this if I can get hold of a copy. Any advice appreciated.

sub Wrote:GB-PVR doesnt actually use a buffer for timeshift. It actually just records (and later deletes) individual shows from your TV guide. This brief interruption is caused when switching from one file to the next. I've tried to make it as smooth as I can, but its still not as smooth as I'd like.

I'm definately familiar w/.the two-step, having had the no-delete old files issue (which you handily beat). I thought the hang was coming from making the file, and not just opening it, which is why I thought a buffer would ease that...I get that part now, too.

I went back to the 0911 release again. I think it was your high-water mark for the card, before you needed to address the MVP issues. I'm guessing finding a balance has had the effect. No complaints hanging back...nothing's busted here.

There is a old saying that you get what you pay for. And because I have used all of the other free PVR software, I have found that GBPVR is well worth more than than the cost. So I have sent my donation. I'll send more later but, I'm between paydays and a clutch for a truck. So anyway thanks for all the software...
