Hello. First Time User (latest and greatest programs as of today) Smile

Has anyone had a problem that occurs when launching the external player (after clicking the stream link)? I am attempting to use WMP, but it cannot play. After the error message from WMP I cannot get back to the page to stop the stream. This causes 404 errors when I attempt to log back into the web administration. I can only resolve the issue by rebooting (when I get home). While rebooting I can see several services still running (streamer/setpoint) that are killed before reboot.

Any ideas?

Regards,

K

Would it be possible to add the current version somewhere on the WebAdmin page so I can tell if my update went correctly? Just loaded the latest (43.1) and I can't see any differences so the only way I would know is if it showed up on one of the pages.

Also, is there a place that talks about the changes made in each version? The info on the Wiki doesn't seem to cover all revisions.

Thanks, Ken

What port are you using for the webadmin? Port 8080 is known to cause issues. Also, you should probably use VLC to stream the file and not WMP. Also you need to have VLC installed on the webadmin server machine.

If you hover over the GBPVR logo it should tell you the version.

I have VLC installed on the server (with it running in the background). I am using port 81 (easier for me to remember). Is this just a matter of using a different port? I don't understand that. I am trying to launch WMP on the "client" computer. I will try to launch VLC tomorrow and see what happens.

Well VLC on the server side uses certain ports and if they interfere with the web admin server then you will get the 404 errors you talked about. I don't know if port 81 is one or not but I know I was using port 8080 for the web admin but the VLC launches its own web front end on port 8080 so I had to switch back to the default web admin port.

I just googled VLC server port and you are correct that it defaults to 8080. This is a problem for me, not because I am using that port, but because that port is firewalled. I also believe that Cox Cable blocks that particular port. I will have to change that port in the configuration setup. I can't believe I have to open up two ports for this thing to work, but c'est la vie.

[EDIT: I just checked online, Cox does not block 8080. If my problem is isolated to port 8080 being needed, I should be able to correct the problem by forwarding that port on my router to the server and then removing the firewall for that port.]

You actually don't need port 8080 for the streaming to work. VLC just uses port 8080 for its own web front end and since you can control the stream from the webadmin you don't need to worry about that port.

If that is the case, I suppose there is just an issue with using WMP as the external player.
