Try to uninstall IIS and then do what cubsfan suggested with running netstat -a. That will list what processes are currently listening for an active connection, and check for the EWA port of 7647. IIS defaults to port 80, so that itself should have no effect on the GBPVR web server.

Brian

AS an FYI....the EWA code itself has nothing to do with the web server.....the server is actually initialized/hosted out of the gbpvrrecordingservice.exe.

If you look in your gbpvrrecordingservice.exe.log in the gbpvr directory you should see the following line......shortly after you restart the service so it will be towards the top of the file....

easiest thing to do is stop the service.....restart the service.....and then look in the log.......that way you don't need to hunt around.....

I added this port to the windows firewall as an exception. Do I need to specify TCP or UDP? I picked TCP and I can't get to my server from the Internet. On the localhost it works fine.

TCP is all that is needed.

Do you have your router forwarding the port to your GBPVR machine?

Mhm, suspect. I forwarded 7647 & 7648 (Stream) within the Router to my PC and opened both Ports within the WinXP Firewall.
With IIS installed: working
Without: not workin

BUT! I found out something else. After i deinstalled IIS, like cubsfan recommended and tested it without success, i started to reinstall the IIS again and CANCELLED the installation after ~3 seconds.
Now i don't have IIS installed, but the PC is reachable from outside. I know now for sure, that this is one setting which is responsible for this. But which? Mhm, will now try the netstat -a switch.

If you have a hardware firewall/router then there is no need for the software firewall so I would just disable Windows XP Firewall completely.

Agreed - In my experience it has a mind of its own, does not monitor outbound traffic and can easily be disabled by other applications (read malware)

Two questions:

1) EWA - Sorting:
I love the Tree View of the search results. But there's no sorting options. If any - the default I think should be by air date. However allowing the user to sort (while viewing the results) would be better.
Surprisingly - there's no sorting option even in the table mode?

2) EWA - Save favorite searches?
Lets say I search every so often for the same program. Why not allow me to save favorite searches, so I can repeat them on the current guide, without having to type the search strings?
(and I tried to offer the save search to the built-in search and to XSearch, but no one responded)

* Hauppauge WintTV PVR USB2
* IBM Thinkpad T42 / 1GB Mem / Centrino 1.6Ghz / 60GB HD / ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 + VGA/DVI out
* MCE Remote + Keyboard
* Win XP SP2 / GBPVR [Latest version. always]
* Pioneer HDTV via VGA (1360x768)
* MS Remote Keyboard
* Logitech Harmony 880 [via MS Remote Control Reciever]

Are you running build 45? It contains sort/grouping options. Group by Title, Rating, Genre or Star Rating (ZapTools users only).

This request is on the wiki already.....I have added a reference to this post as another request for this type of functionality.
