We can currently skip ahead/back 24 hours in the TV Listings. I would like to also have the ability to skip ahead 12 hours.

Frequently, first thing in the morning, I identify which programs I want to record that night. Being able to quickly jump ahead to the evening portion of the grid would make this easier.

you can also advance one "page" to the left or right by pressing ctrl+f / ctrl+d (the ffw / rew keys on the remote). I'm not tending to add more options, as the application is designed to be used with a remote control.

I didn't realize I could do that. That's probably a better alternative to what I had requested.

Thanks.

I've been using TV Listings on my media server plus two networked clients. The media server guide updates almost instantly. However, the networked clients seem to load in 1 channel to the guide very few seconds. As I have satellite, this means the guide takes about 10 minutes to load in

Any ideas?

Thanks

it should be normal that loading the guide data to the client over the network is quite time intensive.
How large is your database file (gbpvr.db3), and how are your clients connected to the server (bandwidth)?
Maybe it helps if you configure the number of past days for the guide to "1" in the configuration of the plugin.

do you still offer the utility to convert tv movie clickfinder to xmltv? I am planning to get a tv movie clickfinder subscription but it depends from your utility...

Alibert,

the db file is about 50MB. Clients are connected over minimally used gigabit network. It takes about 2-3 minutes for the regular guide to load (TV Guide). But a lot longer if I use TV Listings. Any ideas?

Thanks

sorry, I don't know at the moment. When I get the time, I'll have a deeper look into the listings load process in a client/server setup.

Hi alibert. I’m sure you have lots of things to do with your time…but just in case you are bored and looking for something to doWink, I had a suggestion. It would be really cool if someone (e.g., you) worked up a “recordings” replacement that would include the extra detail you have added to the TV listings via the XmltvExtras utility (stars for movies, jpg image for the show, and icons for stereo, HD, aspect ratio, etc.). That way, all this information would be available for the shows that have taped. I realize this may be considerably more involved than it sounds and you may not be interested, but I just thought I would bring it up. Thanks for considering it!

I already thought about a custom recordings screen that uses the same popups as in the tv listings plugin - but because of the badly designed code in the plugin this will have to wait until I'll do some refactoring... but it's definitely on my list.
