I made a simultaneous recording: 1 on digital card, 1 on analog card.
The file from the digital card: everything okay (back/exit no crash and skipping okay, normal timeline).

Analog: the playback doesn't start at all, stays at 0:00:00. When playing this file with windows media player, it seems to have a difficult time starting but it does. The whole video is black screen.
Will try another recording.

Logs attached.

Disabled the dvb-c card. New analog recording. Everything okay (no black screen, just played fine, back/exit no crash and skipping okay, normal timeline). Attached the logs.

Maybe the problem with the black screen on the analog recording whilst making a dual recording on digital and analog simultaneously was a different problem.
Now making another dual recording, will report soon.

Now while making a dual recording, just the analog tuner and recording visible in device status.
Now it seems that the analog recording is (everything) normal, the digital is black and not starting playback.
Logs attached.

I think my original problem with back/exit crash is solved, but found a new problem (dual recording on analog and digital card).

Sorry, the black screen seems to be a malfunctioning newcs. Posting soon.

Yes, it was the newcs malfunctioning and so it was the digital card not recording, not the analog. Should have tested more before posting, but wanted to be fast.

I checked Go+FF, that's okay too.
My problem's solved. Many thanks, again, to Martin. Sorry to be, me and my MVP, such a burden ;-) .

Greetings,

Wim

Thanks for taking the time to test. I know the NPVR's MVP logic in seeking in LiveTV needs to be improved, it doesn't seek well when multiple rolling files are involved but I am definitely happy with the way mvpmc is responding now.

It's unfortunate I can't test dvb recordings here and the behaviour and quality (you are so lucky to get 16:9 SD) of analog ts file is quite different. For me to really test I would have to watch shows and really use the MVP which I find painful.

Martin, you've done a great job (and so did Sub)!

The quality of the dvb-c card is so much better, than of the analog card. Even on my old analog tv ;-).

And like I told Sub before: if you need a beta-tester for the mvp, I am here.

Martin,

I am very sorry to report that the problem with skipping is not completely gone. I was having some harddisk problems and since the last post, I have been switching drives and images and last week I noticed in a recording that there was again a skipping problem, but I had no time to test some more. This morning I had some time and the strangest thing is, that it's not consistent.
I have 1 recording that has a normal timeline and skipping and 1 recording just a few minutes later, nothing changed, same channel that has a wrong timeline and skipping problems.
So I have played back both videos and skipped a few times. Added the logs and here's a link to the videos (first video 4 mins, second 5 mins). Sorry that the video isn't longer, I have not been able to produce a recording with normal timeline which is longer.
The good video is called Koffietijd, the wrong (timeline) video is called The bold and the beautiful.

I am not expecting you to work on mvpmc anymore, but I thought you might be able to tell me (from the videos and the logs) if I did anything that might have caused this instability or maybe it points to some problem with NPVR.

p.s. 1 In the post 2011-10-10, 08:24 AM, I wrote I had the dongle from 9-10-2011, 08:13:38 (booting the MVP). But now, trying to check if everything is okay I installed the latest dongle again and I now see dongle from 09-10-2011-123206 (booting the MVP). So it seems, I didn't even have the latest dongle installed.

p.s. 2 I also tried the 08:13:38 dongle, but that's the same.

EDIT: forgot to mention the problem is only with digital, encrypted channels

It looks like you forgot to add the registry setting to not write encrypted data. The first 15k blocks of the B&B file are invalid casing NPVR to think you are 5772 seconds into a 346 second file.

No, I haven't forgotten the registry setting.

Just to be clear, since I am running 64-bit I haven't made this registry setting:
sub Wrote:You can try setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\npvr\BlockEncrypted=1 (DWORD) to make it throw away encrypted packets at recording time.

But this:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\npvr\BlockEncrypted=1 (DWORD) (DWORD is 32 bit)

Just to be sure, I deleted the registry key and added it again.

I don't understand how one recording yesterday went wright, while the other one (and every other one since) went wrong.
Today (after the registry removed and added again), same channel, first recording went wrong, second went wright, third went wrong
(The recording that went wright yesterday, might have been the second recording of the day too).

I am using softcam, could that be part of the problem? Or a problem with the db3-file? I don't know where to look and what to test.
Maybe Sub should take a look?
