Updated Button section on wiki. Look into popup sizes and then post your proposal.

Making good progress here... Smile

McBainUK Wrote:Add Buttons for use on the main menu. They can be the same size & shape (and indeed the same image), but will be named differently so the user/skinner can have different types of buttons for the main manu / plugins. I feel this is needed in order to fit in with the main manu / plugins background choice.

The only concern after re-thinking it is the buttons that "anchor to the side of the screen" wouldn't work in a popup. They could use the main menu buttons for plugins in the baseskin.xml file to get around this.

(ps. the popup I was going to look at works for 670x370, maybe since we are bumping the smaller then to y=250, the larger maybe could go to y=400?)

Will have to look into how the popup buttons are done. Maybe could have another entry in the baseskin.xml file or reference the image directly from within the plugin screen. Then the only area the 15 offset will be is in the button_normal / button_selected items.

PopupButton... composite images can drive the location and size (0 offset as well).

A work around is to have the buttons located with a negative value in the baseskin.xml file and main menu for menu selections. That would produce a flattened off edge effect by having the radiused edges off screen.

Also went through and reworked the wiki a little more. I added arbitrary sizes to everything right now, to see how they all might work out. (Remember, sizes are only image sizes, they can be scaled in the xml files accordingly).

I also removed Background_OSD from the background section and added an OSD section. I think all OSD images should stay in the OSD directory, and the button names should stay as they are in blue (for ease of compatibility of dragging and dropping new xml files from blue and adding only the optional images required)

Yes, an OSD section is a must.

On the topic of icon sizes.
Shouldnt the horizontal & vertcial sizes be the other way round - as list icons tend to be tall as the text is at the bottom, with an icon/preview at the top. (see attached for example)

Something like 100x120px ? Or maybe a 110x110 sqaure ?

Yeah, I was looking at xml values in blue for most of the sizes I provided. The thumbnail images or icons should probably be square, with the compostite image and selector images being vertical rectangles.

Code:
<DrawImage filename="..\_CommonImages\IconView_Selected.png" loc="0,0" size="100,120"/>
<DrawImage filename="@thumbnail" loc="10,10" size="80,80"/>
This code draws the icons in the screenshot in the previous post.

10px border around the thumbnail, 20px of height left for text.

What do you think of the sizes?

I made a BlueMCE2 Theme with TitleText instead of the TitleLogos
This ScreenName was OK...in my eyes. Try it.

<TextStyle name="ScreenName" color="#6699CC" typeFace="Arial" size="38" style="bold"/>
Best Regards
