No, there is no problem. It seems that the update/installer doesn't touch the file (ffmpeg.exe) if it's there already...

Zehd, Are you 100% sure.... ? I just found it overwrote mine...

I have been sent what a friend says is "x264 or H264" file for a game I want to watch via my MVP. Does Zprocess support converting x264 or H264 to MPEG2? I did a search in this thread but no hits.

The only other thing I could find (freeware) was SUPER.

OK, if you need to reinstall, you need to reinstall. You shouldn't have to run the install .bat though. Just make sure the real ffmpeg is renamed to fmpeg.exe and you have the latest hunter and ffmpeg.exe (zprocess) in the third party/ffmpeg directory

ZProcess, which really drives FFMPEG will take any input file that ffmpeg can take...

Quote:(May 5, 2005) You may have noticed that Apple's QuickTime Player 7 is available for download. As of this writing, the player is only available for Mac OS X, and the latest QuickTime files are only viewable on that platform. That is, unless you are using an FFmpeg-derived multimedia application. Thanks to dedicated multimedia hackers from the FFmpeg and x264 projects, FFmpeg's libavcodec can already decode the next-generation (buzzword alert!) H.264 video codec data inside the latest Apple QuickTime files. Along with the free, open source FAAD AAC decoding library (for the audio track) and a competent QuickTime file demuxer, open source software is already equipped to handle the newest multimedia files on the internet.

THat said, I have no idea really. I've seen some files that seem like they should work, not work...

Thanks for this helpful add on. I am having a problem with sound though. I have drv-ms files I'm trying to convert. The viedo converts well, but the sound is not there! Is there a setting that I am missing to get it to work. I'm using the 2ipod setting.

Thanks

I hate to say it but, I'm not really sure what to do with dvr-ms... I don't have it, and I could not test it so it would work for me. Someone asked to have the file extension added to the possible file inputs, and I added it, but I was never really sure what would be the outcome...

I believe that the solution is to have th GBPVRconvert.exe convert the dvr-ms to mpeg and then use ZProcess to deal with it...

I'm sorry that I don't have the time to dig into that feature right now...

Hmmm wait a minute ! are you able to convert most other file formats OK to IPOD? If you can, then oops forget it...

If you are having trouble getting sound from other files like avi and mpg to IPOD, then we may just have a setting problem in Zprocess. I used the very same defaults that sub put into the config.xml, but as I don't have am ipod either, I can't really confirm if sub's values are correct...

Anyway, maybe we should check your settings for ipod... Could you please attach the ZProcessRegSettings.txt from the third party/ffmpeg folder ?

Yeah here is the weird thing, gbpvr doesn't even bring up the option to transcode dvr-ms files. If you click on the button it does nothing. But mpeg files, it brings up the options to transcode it for.

I'm trying an mpeg out now.

here is my ZProcessRegSettings.txt:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ZERITECH]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ZERITECH\ZProcess]
"MVPPriority"="Normal"
"VLCPath"="Not Installed"
"OverrideOutputDir"="C:\\MyVideos"
"UseOverrideOutputDir"="0"
"BackupPath"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\Mark\\Desktop"
"UseRemovablePath"="0"
"RedoComSkip"="1"
"DoJoinVOB"="1"
"BackupDays"="5"
"QBack2Back"="2"
"InputDir"="E:\\videos\\Desperate Housewives"
"QTranscode"="1"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ZERITECH\ZProcess\2avi]
"MVPPriority"="Below Normal"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ZERITECH\ZProcess\2ipod]
"MVPPriority"="Below Normal"

Video LAN client: http://www.videolan.org/

Although it's not used by most of GB-PVR, (There's a streaming project using it) I use VLC as a reference so I can be sure that ZProcess is working correctly. It's not actually required...

When I'm in the middle of setting up ZProcess, and trying to find aspect ratios, resolutions, bitrates, and optimal settings to give best performance, I have ZProcess auto call VLC after 5 secs to simulate an MVP client session...

It's not necessarily technically accurate measure of performance.. ( I think the MVP uses more CPU) but it does simulate on the fly Transcoding...

I also posted on page 19. I didn't know if you saw that.

but I did the mpeg test, and it transcoded it to my ipod with out a prob.
it's also not just an ipod issue, if i try to transcode from dvr-ms to avi, it still cuts out the audio. =\
