You seem to get 404 errors.

21/01/2004 7:48:50 a.m..656 VERBOSE [7] About to download channel icon: http://www.ananova.com/tv_listings/image...ogo-89.gif
21/01/2004 7:48:52 a.m..000 ERROR [7] Failure retrieving icon from url: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

Mine are all time-outs.

20/01/2004 7:08 pm.784 VERBOSE [33] About to download channel icon: http://www.ananova.com/tv_listings/image...go-155.gif
20/01/2004 7:10 pm.800 ERROR [33] Failure retrieving icon from url: The operation has timed-out.

Either try creating fake image files with names like logo-155.gif (to match the names in your xmltv file), or remove the references to the icons in the xmltv file. I'll add a check box to the config app to allow you disable icon retrieval.

I've extracted the icon URL's from the XML file and I'm writing a little script to grab them all.

Still puzzles me why it times-out.

Thanks for all the help

Tried the link you provided - I get 404's too... is there something strange in your setup - do you have a proxy server set up or something?

Cheers,
Andy

I have a small network at home with 5 PC's on CAT5 and a Lapttop and PDA on WiFi. All connecting though a VicomSoft gateway/firewall, no proxy just NAT.

The icon URL's work fine though a browser but not from GB-PVR.

Also I directly connected 1 of my PC's to the Internet, no gateway or proxy, with the same result.

I've just noticed in the log that I seem to get 404 errors up until I get an "Illegal characters in path" error. From then on I get time-outs.

20/01/2004 6:36 pm.550 VERBOSE [33] About to download channel icon: http://www.ananova.com/tv_listings/image...go-485.gif
20/01/2004 6:36 pm.690 ERROR [33] Failure retrieving icon from url: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
20/01/2004 6:36 pm.690 VERBOSE [33] About to download channel icon: http://www.ananova.com/tv_listings/image...go-170.gif
20/01/2004 6:36 pm.753 ERROR [33] Failure retrieving icon from url: Illegal characters in path.
20/01/2004 6:36 pm.753 VERBOSE [33] About to download channel icon: http://www.ananova.com/tv_listings/image...ogo-53.gif
20/01/2004 6:38 pm.768 ERROR [33] Failure retrieving icon from url: The operation has timed-out.

The Illegal character is the "?" in the following entry of the XML fille.

<channel id="challengetv.co.uk">
   <display-name lang="en">Challenge?</display-name>
   <display-name lang="en">Challenge</display-name>
   <icon src="http://www.ananova.com/tv_listings/image....gif" />
 </channel>

I removed the "?" and it now imports OK. Hooray !!!!

Challenge is a crap channel anyway.

Thanks
