OK, I added the info to the direct.ini at the bottom of the file. I added the Adaptec as the capture source and when I tried live TV I got an error. "Failed to communicate with the GB_PVR Recording Service....Reboot and try again. I rebooted and tried again with no luck.

I am a dumb ass![Image: smile.gif] I removed the adaptec and added it back in and forgot to config it before I sent the file. (Sorry)

Here is some more info now that I did it correctly.

I want to thank Sub for his extra help last night helping me try to get my Adaptec Videoh! USB to work with GB-PVR.

Thank you Sub!

Here is the update to my other posts.

Sub asked me to try this to get past the error. Doing this allowed me to get past the error.
--------------------------
Can you try changing into the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr (or your equiv)
directory from command prompt and run the following.

regsvr32 GBPVRWriter.ax
regsvr32 asyncflt.ax
regsvr32 ovtool.dll

Then try again, then send the direct.log again.
---------------------------

I am now able to get sound and video from the Adaptec Videoh! USB device (2210).

Life seems great until I try to play the file with my Media MVP. I do not get any sound using the Media MVP when I play these files. I also tried the files in Windows Media Player and I get the sound. It also works in Ulead DVD Movie Factory, but not in WinDVD 4.

I have adjusted the audio settings in GB-PVR to see if I can make this work. I will update with more details.

Anyone else have any ideas at this point??

Here is an update on the Adaptec Videoh! USB (2210)

It looks like the Adaptec Videoh! USB (2210) creates the audio format as LPCM and not mpeg.

The good news:
The Adaptec Videoh! USB (2210) will work with GB-PVR!

The bad news:
Media MVP does not support LPCM at this time and the files created with the Adaptec Videoh! USB (2210) using GB-PVR will have no sound.

Conclusion:
If you have an Adaptec Videoh! USB (2210), GB-PVR is the only PVR that I have seen that can use the Adaptec Videoh! USB (2210). Maybe I will not have to use MyDVD anymore.

Great job Sub!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Sub,

I posted the following question on the shspvr.com site:
------------------------------------
SHS,

Can you give me an update on LPCM audio on the Media MVP? With the help of Sub, I was able to get my Adaptec Videoh! USB (2210) to work with GB-PVR. I then tried to use my MVP to view the files and quickly found out that the MVP does not support LPCM audio. I know there are other posts about this, but I was just looking for an update.

Thanks!
Mike

Here is SHS's reply:
-------------------------
It on Plan Do List but I have no idea when they be able to get to it.

SHS Unofficial WinTV PVR

There may still be hope for using the Adaptec Videoh! with GB-PVR and  the Media MVP!

You also might want to check with adaptec. They may have a means to record mpeg layer 1/2 audio.

I found some information about the chipset for the Videoh! and it looks like it will only do LPCM.

Well,

I guess I will just continue to put my own video tapes on DVD with the Adaptec.

Do you have a timeframe for support for ATI or Avermedia capture cards? If you need me make graph on these, I can! I would like to use GB-PVR with these cards.

Take care and thanks again!

You should still be able to use your Adaptec with GB-PVR, just not for making videos that can be played back on the MVP.

Probably the next cards to be supported will be the ProVideo cards, because I have access to them. The Avermedia cards M179, Yuan MPG600 and Yuan MPG160, probably already work if the names in direct.ini are changed. These are based on the same capture chipset as the Hauppauge cards.

ATI is likely to be in the 'in a few months' type timeframe.
