Wow, hours of searching the gbpvr forums and I hadn't stumbled upon the irq issue. Thanks guys! Sooo, i've been troubleshooting all day now.

First of all I'm actually not having any problem with jumpy/choppy video in DVICO's Fusion application. I can even schedule recordings with it. The only thing is that the HD recording done by DVICO software is only readable by DVICO's own software. If I try to capture in mpeg with the DVICO software, then neither powerdvd, WMP, or gbpvr display it correctly (e.g. only a few frames a second and scrambled audio).

With GBPVR I was able to view Live TV on the DVICO once, but then after a reboot I had a GBPVR.exe crash (and then GBPVR became corrupted, requiring a reload of my disc image). HD recording with gbpvr always results in a BSOD with "IRQ less than or equal to" error pointing at the "zulutcap.sys" file.

With that said, I went on a mission to try and resolve the possible IRQ conflicts that you guys highlighted...I go to device manager, check out the properties of DVICO WDM Capture then go to the "Resource" tab, and it indicates IRQ18.

Now I go to the DVICO BDA receiver device, click on "Resource" tab, and device manager locks up. I can still do anything else I want in windows, but device manager is out of comission. Very strange.

So then I sort devices by IRQ and see that both the Receiver and Capture are on IRQ18. Is that part of the problem, do they need to be given different IRQ's even though they part of the same card in the same pci slot?

So given that device manager was locking up, I decided to try the ACPI-->Standard PC conversion (thanks daphatty), assigned the PCI slot IRQ4. Then went to device manager and the same situation occurred. Hmmm.
[Edit: just to clarify, I assigned IRQ4 to slot in BIOS]

I'm kind of at a loss now and have obviously tried many different PCI slots (and in the process finding one that doesn't work at all). Any ideas? Is there a way to manually reassign an IRQ in windows (especially considering that I can't get to the "resources" tab of the BDA receiver device)?

Thanks for your input so far!

rgann - I think that is the latest and greatest Cyberlink mux. Two more questions though - Have you played around with the sound options from the playback tab? Also, are you using a dedicated sound card or on board MB audio?

I've found that I have to be very careful which audio settings I configure in GBPVR. Otherwise I get massive stuttering on the DViCO since the audio and video is out of sync. The hardware you use shouldn't really affect playback but it might explain the CPU usage.

I have tried every combination of Video Decoder, Audio Decoder, and Audio Renderer. Under Audio Decoder, there are two options (Intervideo and MPEG Audio) and only MPEG Audio Decoder produces sound in gbpvr. Intervideo nonCSS is silent when viewing channels from the dvico card. Under Audio Renderer, there are 4 devices, but each produces stuttering.

I am using a cheesy built-in sound device, a C-media chipset that was onboard my ECSN2U400-A nforce2 mobo.

Could you post the settings that work for you? Thanks for your help.

Here are my settings. The key may be specifying your direct sound source (rather than letting GBPVR figure it out). As for the audo decoder, the cyberlink audio decoder has worked the best.

Version 3.3 I believe it just came out a few weeks ago?

@rgann: When live HD tv was working for me (for one boot-up) the Cyberlink Audio decoder definitely worked best as daphatty mentioned. As you did, I didn't get any sound with the Intervideo nonCSS. I'm using the Realtek built-in sound and using the Directsound: Realtek option in renderer.

Well, the Cyberlink audio decoder didn't improve things, unfortunately, nor did specifying the renderer as DirectSound (or anything else). I'm beginning to think this is a lost cause. Please let me know if you have any more ideas, daphatty or fmriguy.

@rgann - Are you using Live Preview mode or timeshifting? Timeshifting has been more troublesome for me so I stick to LP. Also, I make sure that I leave De-interlacing set to none. The other settings just seem to cause problems. Also, set your BDA Multiplexer to DVR-MS. I've found that the F5 works best that way for me.

Live preview mode is on. I tried disabling deinterlacing---cpu usage is still 100%, image is still skipping. The BDA multiplexer was DVR-MS. What is your cpu usage on a working system?

I'm in the process of transfering my HTPC to a bigger case so it might be a sec before I can get you some solid comparison numbers. For what it's worth, the new HTPC has an AMD 2000+ (slower CPU) and the DViCO worked just fine through its native software. Once I get GBPVR installed and configured I'll post some info. (LOL! I feel like I just got caught with my pants down.)
