i think, as a first step, the calendar should display pending/scheduled recordings, or at a minimum have a visual key that one or more is scheduled for that day

Thanks for all the posts, esp yours fbachofner / Felix, lots of good points to think about.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I've been reading around about iCal and it seems it's taking over the world (lol). Looking at the website ricklous linked there are lots of calendars that you can download/subscribe to which would make sense in a PVR envirmont (I esp liked the football fixtures calendar). Quote:supporting iCal which has already standardised calendaring....Why not consider making you plugin display only?.....Leave the data entry to dedicated calendaring appsThis is the way I'm going to go. So the first step is investigation the iCal format. Is there a 'written standard' (like HTML). Also looking for a .net iCal parser. Any tips/links on the above would be very useful. Edit: So far I've found the (extremly scary!) full specification for the iCalendar file format. And some Apple mac writings about it here and here.

Making good progress. Got a workable calender viewer (month gird) and basic iCal parser. Next job is to add event/day view functionality...

Very nice...just having a calender at hand is really nice.
Would it be possible to mark holidays - e.g. new years, christmas - in a different colour. And now from left field...any way to make it switch back and forth to the chinese calendar? My wife and I are always trying to figure out when our parents birthdays are. FYI, the chinese calander is a lunar calendar instead of the Gregorian calendar.
