Is there anybody that is toying with the idea to create a Spotify-plugin for GB-PVR??

Spotify is a Great music service that is launched in most of Europe, with the main bulk of users in UK and Sweden. If you have an account (Theres a free version with ads and a Premium version for paying customers), all music is free, legal and is streamed to the listeners. It is possible to search on artists, albums, songs and genres. It is easy to create playlists and to share them with other users.
Since I got my account, I have stopped downloading music almost entirely. No need anymore, almost everything is present in Spotify (well, some black holes exist as Metallica, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and some others who refuse to allow their music to be streamed).

It would be great to have the ability to interact with Spotify inside GB-PVR.

Some time ago the Spotify team relased some kind of API (so far limited to Linux) in order to develop these type of plugins.

See below links for more info.

Hmm, a bit useless being Linux only and restrictive license terms.

I think it is possible to do things in windows environment as well.
But still, you will need a Spotify account...
On the other hand, if there is a Spotify plugin in GBpvr, I would seriously consider such an account. I have used the free account (with ads) since the beginning of 2009 and it have become my main source for music.

There is more sources for Plugins developed than the official once, like in the links above. Like here.

So do not discard a plugin just because you have to have a premium account...

No US developer would be able to do it since it's not available here. A last.fm plugin might be possible for us though.

The US market seems to be the next step for Spotify. But the question is when. Rolleyes

Spotify can be used outside of EU by signing up through a proxy. A similar plugin discussion is ongoing on the NMT forums.

This violates the developer agreement so no US developer would still be able to work on the plugin.
