When I record both at the same time whatever gets recorded through the 150 looks bad. After editing the my above post stating that things were looking good after a brief shutdown I went straight to one of the offending channels from the guide and it was fuzzy again.

I then went back to the guide, picked channel 3 and flipped up and through the bad range of channels and the tuner was able to lock them in this way. So odd.

I think I have ruled out the connection to the tuner since no matter how I connect the cables, (direct from wall, use connection that works on PVR-USB2) the 150 trips out.

I know this is reviving a long dead thread, but I've been having the same problem and it's driving me batty.

The regular 150 is fuzzy when viewing channels greater than about channel 11 while in GBPVR or BeyondTV. However, if you view these same channels out of GBPVR (e.g. in WinTV or Dscaler), they appear fine. If I record both tuners in the high channels, the regular 150 will have a fuzzy recording.

As others have stated before, I can guarantee that the tuner is fine by disabling the 150MCE and viewing only the 150 within WinTV with the video clear as a bell.

Sub, as you stated in an earlier post, WinTV (and possibly dscaler?) don't use the standard directshow routines that GBPVR does? If this is the case a) Is it possible the 150 and 150MCE could use different tuning frequencies through directshow and thus one be fuzzy and the other not in GBPVR and b) is there then a way to change the default tuning to get the 150 to get better reception?

I guess the main point I'm trying to get across is...if I use the same driver for each tuner, is there anything else that could differ between the two through directshow that could be causing these problems to occur only in GBPVR and other PVR software (e.g. BeyondTV)?

It's so strange how this could occur all of a sudden without any form of update, windows or otherwise. Any help would be much appreciated!

If you run the Hauppauge ProdInfo tool, does it show you have two different models of tuner on these PVR150 boards? I suspect its some bug in the driver where they're not correctly doing the fine tuning with mixed tuner types. Just guess though...

Well, when I run the prodinfo tool, it actually only lists one of the tuners (the regular 150). If I disable the regular 150 and then run prodinfo I can get the information from the 150mce. I've attached a text of the output concatenated together.

Is prodinfo supposed to pick up all tuners and output to screen? When I run it one at a time, it accurately picks up two different tuners with different hardware specs.

I guess this doesn't get us any closer to a solution though  Perhaps my next best bet would be to pick up another mce to replace the regular 150 and see if it goes away? Although they did work together before...

jvcleave Wrote:I am having similar issues. The system has worked fine using a 150 and PVR usb2 but recently certain channels (30-54 Time warner Cincinnati analog) are fuzzy/no audio when recording/viewing on the 150. The PVR USB2 is fine.

So far i have:
  • installed a cable amplifier.
  • plugged the cable from the wall directly into the 150
  • updated the 150 drivers

Whats weird is in flipping channels in LiveTV mode that for a split second the 150 looks ok but quickly goes to the fuzziness which sounds like the 150 is not locking into the signal.

I am going to try a friends 150 soon but would love any insight if anyone has solved this through software

Status Update: I shut the machine down as I wrote this. Rebooted and the signal is looking good on the 150. Today is the day i added the cable amplifier so i don't know whether it was some of that and the shutdown time but it is looking better.

I saw this was been talked about again - here's where I am with it

My fuzziness returned after about half a day of working ok. I have just been living with it until i can get my hands on another 150 to rule that out.

Attached is my prodinfo output if it helps anything

Well, I restored an old disk image from Feb. of last year and voila, my picture is back to perfection on both tuners. Clearly something went awry with the innards of WinXP or directshow. I'm going to update and/or install each of my programs one by one and hopefully be able to troubleshoot what may have gone wrong. I'll post here if I have any news.

edit: Sorry guys, false alarm. I wasn't quite thorough enough in my testing. I was viewing one channel (beautiful picture). Went to the guide, set that channel to record. Then I went to view the next channel up (also beautiful picture). I set that second channel to record. Then I went back to the previous channel that I first set to record and it was horribly fuzzy. On to more testing...

Just to throw in my own experience... I had a pvr150 card that channel 2 was completely crap. All other channels were just fine. I RMA'd it.

I was getting intermittent fuzziness from one card and it was very confusing because it was hard to tell which card was the problem as it was intermittent.

I finally got around to trying to narrowing down the problem and I first checked all of the connections and the coax connection on one of the PVR 150s just came off in my hand!

I ended up just using the composite output from the cable box instead.
