Brian_W - I'm going to download and try what you have anyway. From what I've read, you're using Fandango for your movie times - I just tried Fandango with my Canadian postal code and got theatre listings! Cool..

If that doesn't work, I'll send you some Canadian theatre listing websites.

Cheers!

If it gives you listings using your postal code, then it "should" work. Depends on if they munge the output to where the parser doesn't recognize it. Give it a go and let me know. I am going to look into the parser that Spartan linked me to and I should be able to get listings for new sites rather easy.

Brian_W Wrote:Links are all good and such, but this is still a PVR program being displayed on your TV and there is not a full web browser there. Unless there is something from the IMDB pages you would like to see in particular?

I frequently use my HDTV for small computer tasks and web surfing (mainly when I am too lazy to get off the couch). I understand not everyone would want to do this. I was just thinking that IMDB would be a great place for reviews, ratings, and movie information (new releases are covered there). Perhaps an encapsulated view similar to your review feature.

Quote:As far as purchasing of tickets through the plugin, I don't see that happening. Would open up huge potential for a security risk (do you want your credit card info, verification information, and other personal identifying info stored in a plugin database?) that I am not going to shoulder the responsibility for.

Understood, but wouldn't that be cool to click on a time link before you head out the door and have it all automatically purchase the ticket and be ready for you at the theatre. I think Fandango stores your credit card information, however, there would be the matter of login/passwords. There are fairly easy encyrption methods that could be used, particularly if this is developed in .NET, however, I understand your reasoning for not wanting to incorporate this.

Again, I appreciate all that you have done. Perhaps I might get around to coding something myself one day. Until then, I will enjoy the wonderful programming you have put in and recommend this to others Smile

Regards,

K

That would be great if more people had HDTV (I'm not one of the lucky ones myself) and could view web pages and other things on their TV's. Maybe as you had suggested earlier, an IMDB module which could be one of the search options.

Yes it would be cool. The ideal thing would be some kind of secured web service directly with fandango (or whatever site is used) rather than html scraping and posting and filling in fields. If someone else wants to take on this task (you had mentioned possibly yourself in the future), then so be it, but it won't be something I will risk doing Smile

Thanks for the compliments on the plugin, I hope to take it even further as my time allows.

Brian,

Success! See attatched image (theatres at postal code B4A3Y3). If I knew how to update the Wiki, I would. Smile

Right on. Thanks for trying it out. I will update the Wiki to reflect that the Fandango site does support canadian postal codes. Thanks again.

Yeah me too! (The wife reminds me at least once a week that I haven't added this yet hehe) That is the next thing I am going to work on. I already have some sample stuff down, so hopefully the next version will add this.

hey I know this might be at the bottomof your todo list but could you change your code to allow the skin file to set the background size. I would really like this plugin to support sassari fully, I am trying to skin the plugin at 1280x720 and it just does not work.

I will add this to the list todo. Have never even installed sassari so I will do that and play around with it.
