I'm more than happy to do this, can you post some instructions and I'll have a go?

You could try the attached patch. It will hopefully improve matters. If not, then we'll look at recording a transport stream for me to look at.

Would someone mind walking me through setting up the EPG in the UK please? I know it sounds stupid but I just can't get the darn thing to work.

There isnt really much to it. Create your capture source, setting the EPG source to the 'DVB EPG' option, then hit the 'map digital channels to EPG channels' button. It'll then do a scan to tell you what channels are available. Tick the check boxes for which channels you'd like, then hit the 'ok' button.

If you're already using some other EPG source, it recommended that your drop your capture source and recreate it rather than just try to change the EPG source on an existing capture source.

Hi sub,

thought my epg data was getting better but have noticed big gaps in it even for tonight! Have scheduled epg updates every 8 hours and machine on 24/7 but still have gaps. Will give your patch a try and report back.

Thanks

That sounds nice and easy but I'm using a PVR150 fed by a cable TV box rather than Freeview.

I initially had it working with Bleb, then they had loads of problems so I tried XMLTV using the _rt config but it's doing nothing.

I haven't played with it for a while as I don't use it much for recording so it's not a major problem to not have an EPG but it would be nice to get it working.

Cheers,
Simon.

rather than using xmltv directly, use Alan Birtles Radio Times Grabber utility to generate your xmltv guide. it makes the whole process really really easy. once youve got it set up just point gbpvr at the xml file the utility generates.

DVB-EPG isnt an option for you then. The DVB-EPG is only available to those using DVB capture devices.

I has some gaps in my EPG. It appeared to be just channels ITV1-4. I had a look at what the EPG was picking up and found it was just CITV, see dvbepg-11-2a.xml attached. I then tried your patch which produced something quite odd, see dvbepg-11-2a.xml. This would appear to be data from the wrong channels. But, now the good news. Similar stuff appears in all the other scans so dvbepg-11-zb.xml. Hey Presto, ITV is restored!
I hope this helps, if not then please tell us about recording the stream.
