Go "nuts" and put 70% there! There is enough clutter in the world.

As GB-PVR matures and gets more and more rave reviews (which will attract ever more users) I think it is increasingly important to have a rock solid platform and gently dissuade newbies and casual users from idly trying non-maintained plugins on the most recent GBPVR platform.

The alternative (i.e. not putting 70% in the legacy plugins section) will take up more and more of Sub's (and everyone else's) time (with support questions) and decrease his available time to add cool features like "GB-PVR now does dishes to reduce your clutter and increase TV viewing time!"

;-)

Seriously, though, I think any plugin NOT updated to work with the current GB-PVR release within (say) 45 days of Sub's release should be put in the legacy plugins section.

Fatman_do Wrote:I started to create a page that some of the older, "buggy" plugins can be moved to.

Any chance this can be done with Skins too? This wiki section is not nearly as "bad" as plugins, but there are still a number of skins that seem quite out of date -- i.e. have not been modified to work with the last couple versions of GB-PVR.

I'd vote to have an "ugly skin" section too, but as I am unlikely to be chosen as the arbiter of GB-PVR aesthetics, let's just forget that. >:->

Actually, as much as I dislike the design of some of the contributed skins, I have to say I am VERY impressed with the effort you each put in to this endeavor. GB-PVR is all the better for it.

Do you have any in mind?

So this sounds like the easiest (best?) solution then? I can fix what I did to be like this.

There just will not be a sidebar menu for those plugins.

Or the other approach of Categories, I got a little confused about how to do that when I read about them, so I didn't try that out. How would that be done?

Ok, I won't do anything else yet until the correct procedure is defined.

Fatman_do Wrote:I just did what I did based on an assumption that the files should be located in the same section. The index list on the page shows everything however, so maybe that should be removed, because that would list those obsolete ones?

I was going through the effort to move everything manually, but if this isn't the best way, feel free to "fix" what I did and I will follow that lead.

Ok, see if you like the following approach:

I assume that the addressbook plugin works with the version 90.11 (which is was made for) and 99.5 (just for the sake of the argument).

I (or anyone that have succesfully tested it) therefore add
Code:
This plugin has been tested with [[!GBPVR_v90_11]], [[!GBPVR_v99_05]]
Categoriy tags on the plugin page.

Now we also make sure that the Plugin/Plugin page only lists the tested plugins and skins.

Each time a new release of GBPVR comes along, we have to update this page and add a category entry on all plugins that still works.

Does this fulfill the goal you had in mind? If so, just keep adding those version tags...

Close. How do we address unsupported plugins though?
That could be a tag as well maybe?
Code:
This plugin has been tested with [[!GBPVR_v90_11]], [[!GBPVR_v99_05]]

This plugin is [[!Unsupported]]
