XMLTV is working properly, though (grabbed data fine and GBPVR read it into the database). Does that information help you diagnose what's going on?

You could try logging the EPG update with Ethereal and zipping and attaching the trace and I'll take a look. This would let me see the info zap2it is sending to GB-PVR across the network.

Sub,

I, too, am experiencing a similar problem with not being able to update the EPG from Zap2It. I've attached a zip file that contains a screen shot of the error (Zap2It Failure.jpg) that comes up on the screen and my attempt to use Ethereal to capture packets (Zap2It Failure.cap) while trying to update the EPG from Za2It. The error message in the pop-up box in the bottom right corner of the screen shot appears when GBPVR attempts to parse the Zap2It information. The text in the error message is also repeated verbatim in both the config log and the gbpvr log. Also, this is my first attempt to capture packets with Ethereal, so let me know if I didn't capture anything useful and I'll give it another try.

BTW - I'm operating GBPVR on a Compaq Presario V2665US (AMD Turion 64 Mobile @ 1.8GHz, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB HD, ATI RADEON Express 200M), a Plextor ConvertX TV-402U, and a Western Digital My Book 500 GB external HD. Everything else appears to work just fine...just want to get the EPG update to work.

It seems in your case you've entered you zap2it username or password incorrectly:

*sigh* Alright, I'll bite. I'm downloading Ethereal. But, since I've never seen or even heard of this thing, before, how exactly do I post useful data as to my problem?

1) Start the config app, and open up your capture source.
2) Start Ethereal.
3) Select Capture->Start menu option. (if you've got multiple network adapters, it might ask you to select which one)
4) Click the 'Update EPG' button, then wait until the error occurs.
5) Click 'Stop' in Ethereal.
6) Click the File->'Save As' menu option
7) zip and attach the file.

I added support for compression in the latest release, which has speed up zap2it EPG updates, but has unfortunately masked the cause of potentially simple problems like the incorrect username/password above.

I'll add some logic in for the next release to make sure this real error is written to the logs. For now though, Ethereal is the only way for me to see this info.

Okay, my file was definitely too big to zip and attach, here, so I uploaded it to my Filebox. http://filebox.vt.edu/users/cflynn/ethcapdata.cap. I hope it has something useful in it -_- Sorry for all the trouble.

hmm, yours is odd. It also seems to return "401 unauthorized", but then proceeds to return the listings anyway, but not in compress form so GB-PVR doesnt cope with it since it was expecting a compressed result.

If you PM me your zap2it username/password, I'll try to make a patch that copes with it correctly.
