What analog + digital tv card shoud I have to buy?
Are you sure that the new one won't have any problem with chipset or video card or motherboard? Will you bet about that ?
Sub, you told me to change me nVidia card to buy an ATI too. Certenly, it should be better to change me celeron D with a new powerfull pentium and then I have to buy a new motherboard for the new uP. Only the power cable will survive.
At the end of the story somebody (my wife) will tell me: "Why didn't you buy an industrial Sony PVR ?!"

talk about WAF Big Grin
at least the last question is the right one. short answer: there's no way a industrial solution will get you such a flexible solution i.e. pvr-server stuffed with different toys & attached client (either mvp or pc)

to answer your other questions: stick to mainstream recording devices used with gbpvr, there will be no guaranties that they'll work with your chipset, or MB or whatever. there are no guaranties when it comes to PC's Wink

i would do the same: sell your crap through ebay, buy another one. heck, i did it twice. first dvb-t device was an older & cheaper one from twinhan, had no DBA drivers, returned it very fast to the store, took another (after checking the wiki) which works fine ;-)
then another issue with an older PC i'm playing around as a client: i had an old RIVA TNT2 64 AGP card, this card just causes crashes under xp on video playback (check the web, forums are full of it ;-) there would definitely have been no way to fix that, drivers from nvidia are crap, tried 3 older versions, after some hours trying looked for a replacement und dumped that old crap.
there's no sense to try to fix some crappy hardware, it's simply not worth the time...

ps: if an industrial solution meets your needs, buy one & be happy (sony & their employees also want to earn some money ;-) ... oh, and try to avoid some cheap crap out there...

As you wrote I went to read the wiki looking for a tv card (analog + digital) but no one has a GBPVRnative support for both analog and digital withaout some work or as you wrote "worth of time"

Looking in the web you can find several tv-card with a native PVR software. For exemple I found POWERCINEMA 4 (or the newest 5) with LIFEVIEW FlyDVB-T Hybrid are sold bounded.... OH MY ! but tha is my actual tv-card !
As you can see it's only lucky. Generally I'm not a lucky man so I have to "worth time"
I thank you all about the advice to change tv-card, uP, video card and motherboard, now have anybody a different advice?

hmmm, ok, i didn't want to sound sarcastic but that's at least my advice: try avoiding thus multi/dual solutions, they are built to run with the delivered software, everything else is just "trying your luck". given the fact that GBPVR only supports hardware encoder card for the analog side and that (AFAIK) there are no dual cards/devices that provide hardware encoding, i would simply avoid them if you want to use GBPVR. you said "i'm not a lucky man", try improving the odds away from the "bad luck" side, use i.e. a cheap pvr150 for analog and another device for DVB-T (if you dont have the spare pci slot, go for a usb-device). no one says to change your complete hardware, but you have to admit it's a miracle PC's are running with all that cooks (hardware vendors) spoiling the broth Wink

take that advice from someone who has made such a bad experience in the past. 4 years ago i bought a DBV-C/analog combo card, the only software to get them both running was the original (which allways stopped recording analog after 20 minutes, no scheduling, etc...), otherwise there where rumors of LinuxVDR users who got the analog side working. you just have to decide what you want: spend weeks (like i did years ago) & not get it running, or sell your card & spend some additional money to get 2 devices that should work.

Ok K.S. but that aren't my problem. My tv-card works very well with gbpvr: digital is perfect and now with the help of SUB ( I can't stop to thank him) analog works well. I have and hardware issueConfusedometime the board is stucked. It could be a compatibility problem (i read that in the "tv-card" forum) or simply I have a broken board. I don't know. The only think that a can do is to resetart the PC and hope.
I thougt several time to change my board, and your advice to buy 2 cards one for analog and one for digital is a good advice. But now I preafear to work around my tv-card instead waste my time with 2 new ones with other problems. So I do my question again.

_Is there a software that test if a tv-card can detect a channel and exit with the result?

i'm not aware of any software that has such a "check channel & exit" it's an exotic requirement...

do you have the possibility to check your card in another computer? that way you'll at least find out if it's running stable in another setup. if not: does this hangups also happen with the original software provided? even if it requires longer testing, find that out. if it happens with their software: keep bothering their support till you get it fixed, you paid for it!

I've tried all software FLYDVB, POWERCINEMA,MEDIAPORTAL, GALM,PROGDVB, K!TV. It's and hardware issue, not a software compatibility. It happens rarely, once to the week but it enoght when it has to record my scheduled tv program but it's not enoght for technical service. Lifeview support never replyed to my questions.

I doubt I told you to buy an ATI card. I may have said ATI cards dont have the bad tearing problems often seen on nVidia cards, or that the ATI cards dont have the aspect ratio problem. You cant blame me for this.

I standby my comment though, its only worth spending so much time butting your head against a cheap $50 capture card in an effort to force it to work. Often its just easier to buy some other $50 card. Can I gaurantee this other card will work - no, but you'd stand a fairly good chance if you did some research to find a card that works well for others. With rarely used brands like LifeView, you pretty much dont know what you're going to get because there is very little feedback from others to go on.

sorry, but if they don't feel the need to do anything, you only have to options:
- accept it as is & live with that error
- get rid of that crap. period

Sorry I've misunderstood that: if nVidia has problems, ATI no then buy ATI. You haven't said that but that was I understood.
Don't worry I don't blame you about nothing: I only have to say "thank you" for your big help you have given to me in the past till now.

Don't you offend about what I'm telling you, but your advice is almost a troll
