This would indeed be sweet. It'll be hard to convince anyone in the XBMC community to work on an interface though. There's some talk to interface XBMC to Mediaportal, but even that is being put off for now...
Python might be the fastest route, perhaps using socket based communication. The functionality would be limited though and implementing "pause live tv" may be impossible using Python.
A socket based protocol would be generic for GB-pvr and not just limited to XBMC, so perhaps others could find this usefull.

im sure the answer isnt using xbmc, the best answer would be to connect with gbpvr via a server (like the mvp) and just use the xbox as a dummy terminal, so you get full access to gbpvr and everything that goes along with it.  and to make it more broad emulating a mvp is probably the best approach, or a similar device since the mvp cant playback anything other than mpg files. ah i dont know, i doubt this will ever happen anyways, we'll see what they decide to do if anything, cool idea thou.

oh since u can get linux on an xbox, anyone know if you can get the mythtv frontend running on it?

A PVR usually does more than just allow you to schedule shows and watch them later -- it also allows you to timeshift shows, meaning that you can watch them before they are finished. That functionality would be lost by just pointing the Xbox (i.e. through the means of XBMC) to a network share. You would have to wait until the show is finished, plus you wouldn't be able to watch Live TV.

You can use Mythtv in 2 ways on the xbox. Either use the xbox as a frontend for a linux box (see under pyhtin scripts here XBMC forums)

There's also a mythtv port available here:

Gentoox media center

As for a reason to watch live tv via the xbox when your pvr server is located far from the tv: Timeshifting!

I too would like to see XBMC be a "front end" to gb-pvr.
You could get the EPG and maybe schedule recordings on XBMC with python.
Python has the ability to grab files from a url. so you could grab the EPG from the GB-PVR web server, Have python parse it out and display it, and then when the user selects record send the command to the GB-PVR web server..
There is a Python script for XBMC right now that grabs and parses out an xmltv file. Its called tvguide .3
Theres also a python script that will Stream channels to the xbox from the a DVB Receiver called the Dreambox. (whish we had this box in the US) would be cool if we could get gb-pvr to stream channels...
You can check out the python scripts here: http://dwl.xboxmediacenter.de/index.p....27a9a7b
