I deleted that particular show, but I'll see if it happens again and try the last bit of the recording on the PC as well as the MVP. Thanks for the heads-up.

If it was just one show, I bet it was the broadcast or your cable provider and the problem isn't on your end. Try to see if the cracking starts to occur in your recordings with any kind of regularity and consistence (ie: around 1:45 of a 2 hour recording), continue to check the recordings from the TV & PC. I would also do a 2 hour recording on another channel just to be absolutely sure it's the card.

If it still continues to happen regularly then check the air flow around the card.

Hope this helps!

Hmm airflow is OK, but I got another of these last night. First 3/4 of movie is OK, last 1/4 was quite distorted audio. I only ever play back longer movies on the MVP, so not sure if it will happen on the PC. I guess it must have occured at recording stage, as comskip just makes a cuts list doesnt it, no change to the actual mpeg that was made during recording. The only other thing I can think of is playback over the MVP, I know if I use FF rather than skip on the MVP I can make teh audio go horribly out of sync.

k, did you ever confirm whether the audio problem was in file or the mvp? I've never had any heat issues on my optical out.

As for ff vs skip, since ff is not implemented in PVRX2 right now, ff will only do function in the short skip mode so I'm surprised that there is such a difference.

No sorry, tbh, I didn't sit down and watch the same one on the PC, I didn';t think that far ahead. I guess I could FF it or skip top the 3/4 mark to test it as IF it is the file that is bad, it should be the same. Next time I find oine (and NOT delete it ..) I'll try that :-)
