The only thing that stands out to me in the logs, is reported signal strength is low or non-existant.
Its hard to tell if this is the read problem, since some drivers dont report their signal strength in this standard way, but given every thing else in the logs look fine, I have to guess that is the problem.
Thanks for your assistance, it is unusual to get such quick and detailed help (and from Sweden and New Zealand of all places!).
I'm not sure what I'll do beyond getting a different card, and while that may not help this particular problem, it might be more compatible with other optional software.
I'd fiddle with my antenna connection but I'm a bit lost as to why the signal is fine using the Pinnacle software but zero using GBPVR. I guess that is just one of those mysterious IT things that remain unexplained (at least to inexperienced people like me).

I'm not really sure what to suggest. GB-PVR pretty much treats all DVB cards the same, and most of them work well, but the occassional card doesnt seem to fare as well.
No worries. I usually do plenty of research before buying anything like this but I obviously failed to do so before getting the Pinnacle. From memory I think I based the decision on some idiot in a pc magazine who started his review with "what's not to like about the Pinnacle 310i..." and rated it their overall best buy.
Since then I've done the research I should have done and seen that there a very people who actually like the card. We all learn from our mistakes I s'pose.
Hauppage cards seem to be the most popular on these forums but they are a litlle bit pricey in Australia (well for me at least). I'm not really interested in analogue so I'd need a digital one. Will have to be a good boy and ask Santa to get me one for xmas.
Have a good weekend and a departing comment on your support base: It is really choice bro, it's sux light years ahead of anything I've seen. Makes me want to go out and have a bug feed of fush and chups.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself. You don't have a smiley icon for someone being a smart arse.
