The procedures I talked about require the wireless.

I'll try to spend some time testing the MVP soon in the way you described soon, and will hopefully be able to find something.

OK mvallevand, I followed your instructions and my MVP shows that my Flash is 1.1.38 and my System is 1.1.52.

I guess that means I've loaded subs dongle.bin, yes?

Well at least you are loading a dongle so that's good news. If 1.1.52 is the one sub is recommending and distributing he will confirm, I've probably got as many dongle.bin's as the dongle meister himself so I'm not sure which is correct.

However I'm not really sure Hauppauge is actually recommending that dongle yet. It's only a test download right now and not even available in any of their own products. With so many related MVP problems on 99.12 it might be time to check on how various dongles perform with GBPVR.

mvallevand Wrote:There was an H3 mvp that I came across that refused to load a dongle.bin from either GBPVR or Hauppauge. Without knowing it, this user always ended up running from the flash copy which might not be as compatible as that one sub distributes. Your logs don't actually show the dongle.bin transfer so I'm wondering if this might be the case for you.

Your profile says you are running wireless, and if you are using the mvp's wireless card, you can confirm that you have truly loaded the gbpvr dongle with the following steps:

1. Loading gbpvr on the mvp (You probably are here)
2. Power off with the remote
3. Stop gbpvr MediaMVP server and the GVPBR Recording Service.
4. Power on the mvp
5. When the mvp starts scanning for server hit Back on the remote
6. Navigate to the Options menu.

Here Flash should say 1.1.38 and
System should say something else. mine says 1.1.52 because that's what I'm running.

If they are both 1.1.38 you haven't loaded the dongle.bin.

Martin

neato, does the d3 mvp's show this info too? I'll have to try when I get home.

edit: should have read the rest of the thread first, you already answered this question.

. . . it's written 1.1.38 for both on my wired MVP.

So, it doesn't load the good one.

What I need to do in order to force my MediaMVP to load
the good one ?

Thanks!

Bye!

I'm assuming you do get the GBPVR main screen so you should unplug your mvp and then send your logs if you still have problems.

Here is some causes

- old versions of gbpvr or hauppauge software
- udp port 16869 by firewall
- network errors causing dongle not to load.

tipstir Wrote:Martin,

Try running the software for MVP on another PC on the network not running the server client like GBPVR, yes it going to be basic features but these problems don't show up. Free-up GBPVR let it just record use a remote control from nearby laptop or desktop to setup tv-guide. Unless you got a skyrocket PC with enough RAM to deal with all the MVPs request.

That UDP prot 16892 is use by another program... Don't see how that would improve things.. Maybe if GBPVR had DHCP server running like it's on HAU MVP software then all these problems wouldn't be apparent. Less if sub can figure out these riddles... Let's not all just to second guess the problem.

Shouldn't matter if you got firmware version that is not newer it should still work...

Tipstir, you don't understand his problem, he's not able to load a dongle.bin period. The special tftp port that I am talking about is crucial in this process, I don't know where you are coming from.

Firmware in the Hauppauge sense of the term is very important because it is the actual dongle.bin that is loaded. I think I've even seen you recommending one dongle over another. In any case I could easily crash the Hauppauge server on the new server that your MVP skins run using this flash copy of the dongle so I don't recommend it at al.

Also MVP makes very little demands of the server that is totally irrelevant You've made it clear you don't like using GBPVR as a media extender on the MVP, but I think most people want a PVR and I'd like to help them use GBPVR. It is the simplest and best solution and works for almost everybody. Your solution should only be a last resort.
