this is a really great tool.

Perhaps someone can explain to me how "Daily Auto-Search" works?

Does it just remind, or record the stuff I set up in this?

I can't seem to find much documentation about this feature.

Daily Auto Search will set a reminder for any programmes it finds in the search.....it is a way to keep you informed of programmes that you may want to record. The reminders appear (if you didn't know) based on what is set on the config tab. I think that people that use the auto search feature set the reminder to come up like 24 hours or so in advance so they get enough notice that there is a programme they may want to record.

Clicking on the reminder link that appears at the top of the page opens the detail window for the programme. From there you can opt to record the programme if you choose.
