It's an onboard ndivida6150 so supports dx9 yes. Strangely it doesn't always do it, sometimes if I restart the prog it goes away, othertimes it doesn't!

that was the main thing people didnt like about it it didnt have the flashy menus that mce has media portal has them aswell
but the big thing gbpvr has always had is reliabilty and ease of setup (if you wanted it to be untill you have a play)
so i guess now it has to be said it must be the best although i always thought that anyway

Perhaps I'm just an aulde pharte but I really don't see the value in flashy animated menus. They strike me as eye candy with little added value. One of the many things I liked about GB-PVR was the simple but effective menu structure.

Most people do not think like you. I used Media Portal for a few weeks before going to GBPVR because it had animation. Flashy is what most people want.

To each his own, but I can't see why you'd want it. It adds no real value and uses resources that could be better used elsewhere. Flash but no substance...

I'd a lot rather have the resources (both computer and development) be used for things that add some real value.

I definitely see both sides of this, but did have cater for the ever growing number of users that expect better quality text and the possibility of animations. Every time there was a review of the various PVR apps, GB-PVR gets generally good comments but slammed over its graphical look.

I'm sure you'll agree that I have keep the 'simple but effective menu' structure, with the screens layed out pretty much the same way that previously, but with higher quality text rendering and fairly minimal animations. I decided against having more annoying animations in the default skin, but I'm sure you'll others making use of these features in future. Even if you didnt want animations, I'm sure you'd agree with higher quality text rendering, particularly if you had a high def or widescreen tv.

There is also a way to turn off animations, but I wont mention it to the next release because I notice something slight broken with it.

idkpmiller Wrote:I have seen many people commenting on the awesome animation on the front screen, I dont mean to sound negative here, but I dont see it! I assume I have an issue whereby I am not seeing the full impact of the animations or some setting is maybe screwed up somewhere on my machine. Is it at all possible that someone could figure out a way of providing a short video of a working animated screen so I can see what I should be getting.
Sorry, I was sure there will be a few teething problems like this. It was a big change, and it might take a while for me to get things working super reliably.

Its also going to take me a little while to work out what the new recommended minimum hardware is - I've only got a few machines, so these arent a good representative spread of real world machines.

idkpmiller Wrote:does your GPU support directx9 in hardware? I had a radeon 9200 and it only support 8.1 changed it to a 9600pro which supports 9.0 and it worked fine after that. not sayings the correct answer just my experience so far, early days for 1.08.
Glad to hear you found a fix. Just so you know though, my Radeon 9250 seems to work pretty well, but other things may have a bearing (drivers, desktop resolution etc).

I can see this on the PC, but on the MVP, the menu just jumps from one selection to another. Is this normal or should I also have the smooth experience on the MVP?

I believe the MVP does NOT show the animated menus. The MVP gets the final image (after all animation) or the system identifies that this is a MVP session and animation is automatically turned off.

Too bad, because it looks nice.
But in this case it would be good if the animation could be turned off for the MVP, because I have the impression that clicks are slower to process as compared to gbpvr.exe

Animations are automatically turned off on the MVP. Screen updates sent to the MVP are way too slow for smooth animations to be possible.
