Client for Mac

Based on the on sale mvp that is being discussed on the mvp forum I found this interesting link

So it looks like a HD mac mini client is viable and I think I am going to buy one. Does anywhere have an experience playing any HD files on a mac mini?

On a Mini... no. I've run HD content off my MacBook Pro to my home theater though, and it works fine. The new Mini's should be able to handle HD just as well.

I've not bought a Mini yet, but I'm close to it. Once I get GBPVR working on my Shuttle PC I will likely stick it in a closet and buy a Mini as a client. It will pain me to run Windows off it, but the form factor is too good to pass up (along with the future potential of being able to use one of the Mac PVRs in development).

I'm going to have to check out the link you sent though. It would be pretty sweet if those could stream the GBPVR content.

If you could get this mac mini working as a GB-PVR client, I'm definitely buying one! I believe it's a great computer, for a relatively small price. I thought about buying one and installing XP on it, but it seems not possible to connect it to the SCART input on my TV in combination with XP. This should be possible with the mac OS.

Before I spend $500 on a PC for "playing" with emulation mode I really need feedback on whether the mac mini specifically will do 1080p reliably. Searching has not made this clearl.

I know it will do 1080i, based on reports. If I knew of how to test the output capabilities, I would help out -- but my TV doesn't claim to accept 1080p, so I don't know how I can help.

Truth is, I don't own a Mini yet... but I've been looking for an excuse to finally break down and get one. A working, fully functional, media center would make me do that -- I'll break down to help test on too.

Me too. This would a nice little project to put some time in, since my current GB-PVR isn't much of a challenge anymore. A great excuse to spend some money.

How about the playstation 3? You've talked about it before, but I don't know if you were positive about it. The price it almost the same as the mini Mac (at least here in The Netherlands).
