Tried this, and while it's not great, it might be passable if I could make some adjustments. I'm getting some horizontal distortion (jaggy sideways lines at edges of objects) during fast motion and text ghosts (like a noticeably band to the left and right of show credits) while viewing PVRX2 on my PC display - so that is what gets transmitted to my TV. I seem to notice it more on WinTV2000, but didn't worry about it before because I was using the PVR-350 TV Out (not planning on watching TV on the PC) and the effect is minimal there. Now that I'm trying to use the VGA out to drive a TV, these effects require me to try and fix. Can this be caused by the settings for the software decoder, or is there a preferred driver that minimizes this? What are optimal values to prevent this in PVRX2 and give the best video output to the PC monitor?

Thx!

If I bought a separate card for TV out to grab input from the PVR-350, would that solve my problem in being able to effectively use PVRX2 to drive TV's instead of GBPVR? Which cards are relatively cheap and preferred? I'm currently using the onboard video for my PC, and have only one PCI slot left in my chassis.
Most people use an nvidia or ati graphics card, though a whole variety of different models. If you do a forum search you'll find lots of discussion on the various cards and recommendations.

Your choice of decoder and its settings can have alot of effect on the picture it produces. There is no one precise list of what to use to get the best picture - it varies depending on hardware, decoders, connection type to tv, tv type etc. Again, there is lots of threads discussing this sort of thing.

I do suggest you try a few different decoders though to see if you find one more pleasing to your eyes. A couple of decent free ones can be downloaded from:
