I'm not so sure Sony should be opening the champagne just yet. The time that has been lost to the format war is probably half the life span of Blu Ray. Many of the next gen disc players that Sony and Toshiba did not sell over the last 3-5 years will never be sold.
In this day and age it really seems silly to go to a store to pick up a piece of plastic with a movie on it, then make another trip to return it. Downloads through STB's, game consoles and PC's are going to take over eventually.
If Sony "won", it was a very expensive win. Everyone involved (including the consumer) would have been better off if they could have worked all this out years ago.
