Freeware DVBDream http://www.dvbdream.org can record multiple streams and do PIP.

I must admit I prefer multiple tuners though. It must get awful messy scheduling recordings where you have to check which mux a channel is on.

sorry to contradict you but i did a recording with GBPVR & that mux for the full stream, it still was no real option for me cause unsupported & PITA. i've just been playing around

that's only a matter if it's not done right. it's of course a real challenge
just some moot thoughts as it's unlikely to come true:
- just schedule from the guide as normal
- display all channels on the same mux in another color for other possible shows to record
- if no free tuner available, show potential cancel options grouped i.e. if you schedule this, you will have to cancel X & Y & Z (only list the recordings which will be affected, that is, if there is yet another show U on the same mux but not conflict, don't bother me)
yes, and then again the conflicts behaviour for season recordings on the other side
i do understand why sub does not like to spend so much time on that
