No, I do not believe so. I never need to access the GBPVR folder on my network. If I am needing to do that, how to I share it seperate?

Crashbowman,

to me it sounds like you've tried to get things moving too fast too soon. A GBPVR upgrade should be treated like opening an oyster. I heed the advice of those that have more knowledge, I just get an idea from your posts that you're jumping the proverbial gun,

If I'm wrong shoot me down in a hail of bullets.

right click on it there will be a sharing option (devnz folder) just follow the the option and make it so anybody can change files within the folder

im guessing that when you installed something you clicked on an option somewhere that said just me can use rather than anyone (or what ever the options are again)

either your remote or gbpvr

Steeb,
Sorry, but I do not know that I completely understand what you are saying. I have been using GB-PVR for over a year and very successfully, I have had very few problems and I am very computer literate. This is the type of strange issue that pops up with technology and you never quite know what the problem is until you luckily find it. I had a PC (HTPC) crash and within just a few hours I had it up and running just like before with this small issue. I do not understand what gun I am jumping here? If you are saying I should not have installed the newest version, then there is not much of an option when you have a PC crash and there is not an older version available for download?

stustunz,

Tried it and no luck.

It still sounds like an issue with user security/sharing as sub said.

To get it clear, with the remote startup, specific sub folders CONSISTENTLY do not show. Correct?

If so, were the offending folders set up under different circumstances? If you now add another sub folder to the My Videos folder, can it be seen?

Is simple file sharing on? Is the drive ntfs or fat?

They are NTFS drives. If I add something, it does not appear if I use the remote, but will appear if I just click on the shortut and yes it does happen every single time. I have also tested this with PVRX2.exe and GBPVR.exe and it occurs on both of them every time. and I can change the Irremote.ini and it will still happen.

What exactly is simple file sharing? I have never had to deal with file sharing issues unless it was network based and since this is not a network issue I guess I am a little confused. I have not done anything different than I have ever done before.

When you say "My videos" and "My music" are you refering to the standard videos and music plugins or to revens "My videos/music" plugins?

There is never an option to sign in as an administrator. There is only one XP account that has been set up, so to my knowledge in theory an administrator would always be signed in.

I am referring to the standard My Videos and My Music, I am not using any plugins.

To check for simple file sharing run explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View. Scroll to the bottom to find 'Use simple file sharing (recommended). If it is unchecked, try checking it.

But, like sub said, there are more 'users' than you think! There is the one you set up but XP can use a 'System' user for example. There is also the 'behind-the-scenes' guest account which is different from the guest account you have probably disabled. The former guest account is used under simple file sharing for using resources without authentication being required.

IMHO you need to concentrate on the sharing/security rights between the visible and invisible folders - there has to be a difference.
