to me it sounds like you havent followed the correct part of the wiki instructions
If you are referring to the sections in the WIKI called "Adding GBPVR Commands to HIP" and "Teaching HIP the HIPSend codes", I did follow that part and added 0-1.

I can see the numbers for channels being entered into GB-PVR when I press CHAN UP and CHAN DOWN, but the channel doesn't change.

did you link these with your external command that you learnt from your set top box

ie edit '0' in alternat input (these are the keys you learnt from the dos prompts) should be a number like 1234.1 (instead of 1234)
>primary command
>click on the little keyboard symbol
>keyboard editor comes up
>send ir
>another box opens which is your add/edit ir commands
>select the '0' you learnt form your set top box

Well I thought I did but it still didn't work. So out of frustration, I uninstalled and reinstalled HIP. Now I cannot get past the section "Adding GBPVR Commands to HIP" because there are only a few pre-defined keys (ENTER, OK, and a few others are missing) and when I get to the point to add the ENTER key, the Get User Input window closes as soon as I hit ENTER on the remote because the CANCEL button is selected and cannot be deselected (see attachment).

remove the mce driver you installed
unplug remote plug it back in original driver will install
then you will only need to add the start button everything else will work natively

then do the alternate input keys for hip send

so you should only need to add 10 keys for hip send and the start key all under alternate input

Couldn't add the START key as Media aCenter would open everytime I tried. I did redo the others. Still can't change channels to the STB.

The tests on the STB codes worked just fine.

i dont think you have used the command prompt to teach from the gbpvr to hipsend to get the correct numbers in the alternate input
you should have the .1 numbers in alternate input you either dont have them or you posted the wrong screen (im not talking about what you have in the right picture those numbers should be in the left picture)
post me exactly your steps of how you added a number from enetering it ti tieing it to the number you learnt from your set top box remote

you need to disable the ehtray from starting(media centre )
Click Start -> Run
Type services.msc

stop anything with ehtray in it dont worry it wont remove media centre just stops it loading at the beginning so doesnt take commands from remote
