I'll poke around and see if WinTV finds it, and if they store this info anywhere.

mmatheny,

I just want to say you are very persistant, and obviously have more patience than me. I'm ready to fling my HVR2250 against a brick wall. I haven't yet only because I believe you're eventually going to solve all of your problems, and then I'll solve mine by reading all of your posts!

Don't give up.

Me too! He's a bulldog after a kill. I just haven't had the time to work on this more but spent most of the past weekend trying to get QAM to work in GBPVR. I understand SageTV has problems with it as well. I don't think it's one thing but a combination of things needed to make this work. Why it works in Vista Media Center and not in GBPVR and WinTV is beyond me.

Well, as long as the community doesn't get pissed at me asking stupid questions, I'll keep hacking - too much money tied into this to give up, had to buy a new MB/CPU/Memory/Video card to hold the PCI-E tuner card. Also got a 500g HD while I was at it.

I have done this so many times I almost can literally do it with my eyes closed.

Does Hauppauge support other apps except WinTV? I mean, and here's a big question about how Sub's going to tackle this card, if I can get the channels I want on WinTV, but GBPVR doesn't seem to see them, will Hauppauge work with me or Sub, or are we on our own? I just haven't had time to scroll through ALL the channels WinTV found to see if it picks up 86.3 (it did exactly ONCE in GBPVR, but that got blown away in one of my many total reconfigs!) - maybe tonight I can get a comparison of what WinTV found compared to what GBVPR finds. If not, over the long weekend. (I missed DWTS last night while futzing around with this, and I got the silent treatment from the wife for a bit!) Oh well, that's what BitTorrent is for! What gets me is they obviously have TV tuners that can tune in QAM! (or they wouldn't be able to upload the stuff I miss!)

Hauppauge UK has a forum for their users - can't find one here in the US. Here's that link:

http://www.shspvr.com/forum/index.php has been very helpful but it's not a busy place.

From a post on their forum (sounds like BS to me):
Quote:I have contacted Hauppauge a couple of times regarding this matter and my latest reply from them included this
"We have had issues picking up QAM correctly with Comcast Cable. They usually transmit the signal differently that most other carriers" then why does this not effect all of my HDTV'S? I think there may be a hardware issue with the ATSC Clear QAM tuner on the HVR-1250 but i am hoping it is just a driver issue.

To pcostanza and mmatheny all I can say is that Clear QAM does work, so don't give up, but it's about the only thing that I have working. I have Comcast and I get about 15 digital channels. I wish I could offer some great tips, but I just followed what I read here in the forums.

Now I've got to get both digital tuners working, and get analog tuning to work, and fix the audio sync problem, and...

toboR, no way I'm giving up but I may wait until Mike figures things out. Big Grin Seriously, as a tester for MS, I know that something s work for some people that don't for others. For all I know, it could be something I have on my system that stops it from working. Maybe Vista Media Center, maybe WinTV. But, to not work on 2 machines with different tuners is painful to understand.
I scan for channels about 10 times a day but then again, we're back to the definition of insanity (remember, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results).
