Further on this .. I spent today trying to go through the manual install instructions ..

Telnet works fine I get this message when I start from the NMT

mount \\123.234.1.15\mvpnc i
(the IP is my MNT but it looks like the message gets cut off)

Starting the GP-PVR still gives me a blank screen and hangs the NMT.

Changed the resolution in the startmeup from 180 vback to 720 but still not working

I also added the mvpmc directory a an SMB share but that didnt change anything (still blank screen)

Cheers

Okay I know this can be frustrating but believe me once you have it working it is all worth while.

I had some problems with my setup which was frustrtaing but it actually turned out just to be a typo. I'd read the Wiki and threads so many times but I had become complacent (and annoyed)!

So if we can go back a stage. You have a NMT device on your network and this is outputting successfully to your screen as you can select network browsing?

Do you have a local facility for a USB stick or hard-drive on the device? The necessary files can be copied locally (I can describe how later) and this at least takes out any network browsing, folder access, etc, problems.

From telnet I don't want you to type mount just each of these in order

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p &
Check TV if still black
/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p -freq 50 &

Or, if you have component

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p -o component &
Check TV if still black
/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p -freq 50 -o component &

Yes I have an HDX1000 with 1TB hard drive attached to my home network. It runs just fine on my 1080p Pioneer HDMI connected. The HDX1000 NMT has 2 USB ports which is how you flash the firmware/apps.

Martin
I get the same response on all the commands ..

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p &
/bin/sh: /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2: not found
[1] + Done(127) /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p

I am not familiar with unix commands but if I interpret this correctly it is looking run mvpmcx2 from the /etc/mvpmc directory?.. There is no mvpmc directory under /ext on my system

If you know the files are are C:\mvpmc that would usually mean that your Windows guest share and/or file permissions are not set up correctly. At the bottom of the Dummies guide I have two link for Vista users on setting it up correctly. Removing the share from mvpmc and re-adding it might help.

The files are in c:\mvpmc on my vista system. c:/mvpmc is shared and is visible to the NMT, password protection for file sharing has been turned off.
The hard drive on my NMT is shared and is visible to the vista system and the c:/mvpmc is also shared and is setup as an SMB share on the NMT (and working as I can access the html files in the directory)

The commands you asked me to issue give me the following message..

/bin/sh: /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2: not found

Does this indicate that mvpmcx2 has not installed on the NMT ??

If I use telnet and the "cd /etc" and then do an "ls" there is no mvpmc directory in etc in the NMT

If you are using gbpvr.cgi to load telnet then it creates /etc/mvpmc If you are loading it via the lundman method and you can't see it than the gbpvr.cgi script is failing. Zip and upload it and I will have a look.

That's the old way, where you need to run the telnet option every time you do a full power up and then run gbpvr. If that two step approach doesn't solve the problem run the NMTInstall program again and untick the first two options to let the install run the PCH Setup write the scripts for you.

Martin Eureka!!
Problem solved ... After your advice I decided to delete everything from the c:/mvpmc directory and reinstall ..(unchecking first two options) .. I did this but it still did not make a difference.

I decided that I would start a Telnet session to the HDX1000 NMT and run through each of the commands in sequence .. Everything from the gbpvr.cgi worked fine so I then had a look at the startmeup .. I was fortunate to type the wrong command for mvpmcx2 which brought up the help screen.

I noticed there is a parameter to tell the program what connection type you are using so I inserted the "-0 hdmi" option in the command string and bingo, GP-PVR appears on my plasma!

I have changed the startmeup so now I have it set at -o hdmi -p 1080p --freq 60 and it works fine .. (not sure if this was missing something in the guide though)

Thanks for all your help .. lots more playing to be had now ..

Cheers
