LOL, this feels like naming clouds. I see a bunny and you see a cat Big Grin

Okay here's my take. I'd prefer to keep the actual graphics naming as close to the naming used in the "_CoreImages" folder as possible, it makes it easier to develop and test them. I personally think that the folder names are descriptive enough, especially given that there will be a visual representation in the skinplugin popup. I think we should probably remove at least one level of folder depth so go from:
  • "...Graphics\Selectors\Glossy\Rounded"
  • "...Graphics\Selectors\GlossyRounded"

I'd like to try it out for the beta and if testers feel that it doesn't work then we can alter it to taste.

Saying all that I'm really not gonna swim the Irish sea and hunt you down if you feel it should be labeled differently Big Grin

The Glossy, Rounded parts are good - it's the "Normal", "Selected" "Inactive" parts that are the problem (IMO) as these define usage for the images but a theme/user can use, for example, a Green button for the normal button image and a black button for the selected button image if they want.

Since the Inactive images have a higher white opacity how about "CS-Blue White" for a style name?

ps. After you swim the Irish sea, good luck getting to fatmando via the Atlantic! Smile

Yes but I think they actually need this definition, the user should be able to see what graphics the theme designer intended for each element. They are still free to load any graphics they want but by grouping them relevant to their intended use gives the user a starting point.

I purposely avoided naming them CS Blue "anything", I'm hoping to use them for Reflect and beyond Smile

Reading back through this thread both arguments are pretty solid.

One of the things that bugged me in CS3 was the copying of (eg) a green button and then renaming it to call it Theme x Selected Button, Theme Y Selected Button. To avoid this you need to name the image/image sets with a descriptive style based name. THIS IS HARD!

So I happy with \Selectors\Glossy\Rounded\Normal\ as it's descriptive and leaves room for extra image styles and colours to slot in.

Will leave the Buttons and Selectors resource folders as it is. Rolleyes

Hairy Wrote:No they're slightly different.

The buttons and selectors graphics are basically grouped by style, shape and opacity.
  • Clear: opacity = 0%
  • Light: white opacity = 17%
  • Dark: black opacity = 34%

Ok, I see what you mean there.

Could you then define them as something like:

But then you loose the rather useful "Glossy\Rounded" part.

Just for fun....

Someone tested the waters already today.

Plus, if you went via the St.Lawrence seaway, over Niagra falls, all the way around the lower peninsula of Michigan, then up the St. Joseph river, you would be about 400 meters from my house.

Bring some Guinness or whatever..
