My daughter said this happened to her last week (I think, I didn't investigate too far because I was taking some fiber optic network installation training and didn't have the time).

She said American Idol was running two back to back shows (not one 2 hour show, it was listed in the epg as two separate hour shows).

She said it recorded the first one but not the other. I guessed it was because they had the same title and air date so GBPVR thought the second one was just a repeat of the show (the shows had different show descriptions though).

How does GBPVR decide if a show matches one that has already been recorded? By matching show names and dates or are other variables taken in to account? If it doesn't already, maybe comparing show descriptions wouldn't be a bad idea?

TTYL,

Steve

GB-PVR will always assume a show is a new one. It doesnt look at titles or descriptions etc.

The only time it'll decide shows are duplicates are if you're using the Schedules Direct, and two shows have a matching 'unique identifer'.

I'm using Schedules Direct so it must've been their problem.

Have you tried emptying the EPG an then reloading it?

"C:\Program Files\devnz\GBPVR\PVRX2.exe" -emptyepgonly
"C:\Program Files\devnz\GBPVR\PVRX2.exe" -updateepgonly

I run into similar issues and this typically fixes it.

No i havent, but i was hoping that there was a reason why it occasionally will not pick up one show in the series when it seems like everything matches up correctly, especially when the following weeks episode is schuled to be recorded.

Perhaps you know this from the comments above, but a program with a * on it is not the same as a program without the star, and the star may or not get added depending on the scheduling of the different channels in your guide. I've seen the same program get the star one week, then have the star disappear from the same program in the same time slot the next week. If you want to be sure to record that program in that time slot, you need to schedule both the star and the "not star" version of that program (or else stop using the option that adds the star.)

Thanks Dennit

but this isnt the problem the problem is the season recording skips one show even when it has the (*) in it

I tried to creat another season recording with the show that did not get schdeuled just incase it was slightly different, and it would not schedule, the only way to record it was to select the quick record, and just wanted to try and see if there was something wrong that could be fixed as if i am not able to catch these i loose a recording every now and again
