Hans, both formats are accepted for -ab. Because of your keen eye, I thought I'd let you know and warn everyone else that if and when sub upgrades to ffmpeg 0.50 the -ar option will only accept the full version and many scripts will break

ie -ar 48k must be changed to -ar 48000

keen eye, keen eye.....I'm not so sure about that. Why do I need a €1000 of glasses in front of those "keen eyes"
Thanks for the compliment anyway.Wink

Hans I expect with 640x480 resolution on a 24" screen with large fonts you will be able to help us for a long time.

You can probably "read" that like braille, don't you think? Because of the temperature differences of the varying colors. Maybe I just did an invention.Rolleyes
In real life we still are watching tv on an old fashioned 32' crt screen.
When/if we buy a flatscreen we might even go smaller in stead of bigger.
I guess we aren't member of the "default" consumer group.
e.g. I hate (don't like) audio surround systems, they are just too much for me.
otoh when it comes to beer, I don't mind one more....................Wink

Touch screens aren't new, but that still could be a "red hot" idea.

A 32 foot screen WOW.

Believe it or not: I checked in your post if it should be single or double quotes.:o:o

Thank you and good night,

mvallevand Wrote:Your sample doesn't play on mvpmcx2 and GBPVR shows it as only 1 second length both showing signs of timeline issues in the file. I couldn't even play it with PVRx2 or MPC on my PC and with VLC the timeline jumps all over the place.

With ffmpeg this error is pretty clear it is a bad transcode

Code:
Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 59.94 (60000/1001) -> 29.97 (30000/1001)

Very odd. On my pvrx2, the timeline is fine, as is the audio (clean anyhow), but the pic goes all rainbow blocks. VLC plays fine(A&V), but the timeline bar snaps to the end right away, even though it plays through..

Now, the ffmpeg error.. I get that error when I open pretty much any of my Miro downloaded files (all sorts of formats from mov to mp4 etc). I thought it was just.. normal.. lol

So the prob is really my source files !??

Here's a MediaInfo scan of a source file from Miro

I just downloaded that source from Miro, and I followed my recommendation to you in another thread to create a DVD compliant file and it plays quite nicely.

Code:
-i magma-walk-through_hd.m4v -target ntsc-dvd -acodec mp2 -ab 192 -ac 2 -ar 48000 -b 4096k -r 29.97 -s 720x480 -vcodec mpeg2video test.mpg

That string seems to work.

I dont recall the previous thread you mentioned, but I did have an old -target string rem'd out in my ini file (of my converter app), I guess I tried it but might have had one of the other options wrong (I think I had updated to ffmpeg 0.5 around then too ?)

Thanks for your time with this.
