Nice work Ton Wink

I use comskip to skip commercials. Will this work in XBMC?

Hey tm12,
I'm pretty sure that XBMC will just use edl files, you can set comskip to create an .edl file by modifying the comskip.ini file to include "output_edl=1".

I haven't had any luck getting it to work on a couple of windows xp machines (one is the GBPVR server). I keep getting "Unable to connect to GBPVR server!" so I'm not sure what's wrong there? I installed Python 2.6 and a PyCrypto binary for 2.6 instead of 2.4.
But, it's late and I need to go to bed!

I understand the processor in the Xbox may not be fast enough for HDTV recordings but I tend to convert my recordings to 480p anyways (for SDTVs connected to Xbox).
I'd love to be able to get this working on an xbox also.
Ton Wrote:Well, it does work on the Linux version. Biggest problem you will have is to find a version of PyCrypto (the component I use for the authentication of userid/password against the WebService) that runs on XBOX. Or you can try to compile it yourself..

The code itself (apart from the crypto library) will work, since it's pure Python.

From what I can gather, tslite provides a pure python implementation of AES. I'll try to see if that can work, though I have two stumbling blocks - I don't know anything about python and I don't know anything about AES! But I'll have a rummage and see if I can get anywhere...

Actually, I have better success with using straight (GBPVR-format) txt-files. XBMC seems to be able to handle them a lot better...

Hi Ton,
I can't seem to get this to work! "ERROR - Unable to contact GBPVR server!". Is the port no. the EWA server port?
I don't get prompted to enter any credentials when I use the EWA at all. Even if I use /gbpvr/login.aspx.
Any ideas?
Ta.

So i'm thinking a minimal Live ubuntu derivitive installed on a USB Stick with a small persistence partition.

You should be able to playback HD recordings with an older PC with the right Nvidia card.

You need a userid and password to access the WebService. These need to be specified in "Config.Exe"....

In order to access the WebService from anything other then a browser, that is required. It is not required for the normal EWA Web-Frontend (this will allow you to access it by default depending on the IP address you are coming from), but it is required for this service. Specify a userid and password in the "Misc2" tab in config and you should be good to go...

That's what I have on my Atom nettop. Just a 4 Gb USB stick with Live on there (no HD in the nettop, movies and TV-shows are on the NAS). Works like a charm (and no noise)...

Thanks Ton. I've quadruple-checked the credentials, ip, port, MAC and firewall on both XP machines but no good. Any idea if the python version 2.6 works? I might chase up 2.4 to try that out next...
