Thanks to all. I've got the card appearing in the devices list. Just need to follow the steps johnsonx42 linked to to get the channels setup. Looks like it'll be a good test setup Smile

McBainUK Wrote:How do you tune analogue channels? Do I have to select Fixed Channel or Tuner? Is there no scanning/tuning feature?

edit: I set Fixed channel and then looked up the required frequency for my local analogue transmitter. But I still would like to know what the Tuner option is for and is there a scanning feature.

As mentioned, I've just been through this and found the slightly roundabout way to set a channel up, I'll do a walkthrough.

Settings, devices, select analogue tuner, device setup.
Add, For "number", here I out channel in, but I think it is just where in the list it appears) Name - whatever you want the chanel called,
Input source tuner (for terrestrial broadvast channel), antennat (ISTR 'cable is for non-UK tuning).

Note (and this is what tripped me up) nowhere above can you enter the tuning channel or frequency.
Highlight and double click the entry you have just made and edit the "channel" number you have just entered above to be the RF channel - it defaults to some wierd value like 1452.

If you want analogue for tuning an STB, choose fixed channel and enter the output channel of the STB and details of your IR blaster. (I've not got as far as this one yet as no spare coax run from the Sky box.

I was hoping the tuning assistant from gbpvr would work to find the channels by tuning teh whole band, but it doesn't work with my fresh win7 install, but it does on the old gbpvr system. Easy enough to find frequencies with http://www.ukfree.tv/txlist.php though.

I think we both got lost on the same step. Thanks for the walkthrough, will give it a try tonight.

This would have been pretty much a kill-off for UK users and others who have to rely on STB's for most of their channels.
With every facet of discussion of "non standard use" of subscription cards being vigorously banned in the UK, there seems to be no information or advice about using legal cards in a PVR to use your own digital satellite tuner.

I'd say 95% of my recordings (over 1gb now) are from STB to PVR150.

There is no official support for using subscription crads other ways than in a STB in Norway eighter, but I know from various forums that a lot of people is using them with a cardreader (like Phoenix), NewCS cardserver and Acamd or Amacd without a cardserver in case of just a single capturecrad. Unfortunately most of this forums are in norwegian, but feel free to ask if you'll go for a try.

This wasnt a concern initially. As I mentioned, this was when NPVR was going to be for some entirely different purpose. It was only when it was a couple of months old did I decide to slap a UI on it and replace GBPVR.

You know of course now everyone is dying to know what NPVR was going to be, and also what ultimately prompted you to change direction. Is NPVR still going to become that other thing too?
