NPVR Not Honouring Audio Renderer Selection

Where did you get ffdshow tryouts from? As the latest I found was the beta 7 from 14th feb 2010 - and on my brand new windows 7 x64 installation with only this codec installed I still get glitchy audio in npvr (not gbpvr). I've got catalyst 10.8 (HD4660 over HDMI which does remember overscan). Actually I've probably got the latest gigabyte motherboard drivers for the realtek audio. Should look for some later ones.

Yeah, the lack of DVB-T2 cards is annoying now as I'd be tempted to point an aerial towards the UK for C4 and C5 HD. Then again, if the C4 HD I'd get is welsh then I'd not bother just for C5. Hopefully C4HD will go FTA on sat one day. ffdshow works fine for the AC3 channels.

I may have just found the solution to the bad starting - skipping etc.

On the ffdshow output I had the default Connect to: any filter

I have just changed it to Connect to: DirectSound

Ten minutes of Remote abuse and almost instant first time channel changes and good skip forward / backward on recordings. - I am hopeful!

I have been having these instability problems (TV black screen on Channel change, hiccups on skipping in recordings etc.) ever since first trying NPVR and have always thought it was an Audio / Video Codec incompatibility problem. Tried just about everything I could think of.

Ten days ago I upgraded to Catalyst 10.9 drivers and things got much worse - green screens etc.

On looking for an answer I came across the Catalyst 10.9a hot-fix drivers
These along with the Realtek R252 Audio drivers have totally transformed the HTPC.
4 days of glitch free skipping - much faster picture appearing on channel change - black screen on channel change almost a thing of the past - no longer require WHURLSTONS tray app to reset picture to screen.

Apparently these hot-fix drivers have rectified several HDMI issues.

This is with HD5670 series graphics card, spdif output from 780G M/B, latest ffdshow, audio renderer set to default directsound (both realtek and realtek direct sound now have no audio)

Think we are getting close to a good setup (still have epg problems)
