the file image will use the image found in the database entry, if there is a image file found eg you have a video called "D:\my videos\lost - 1x01 - pilot.avi" and a image "D:\my videos\lost - 1x01 - pilot.jpg" it will use that one (it might use something like "D:\my videos\folder.jpg" aswell, i cant remember is i still allow this). if the poster is wrong, just use tvtome for the poster, thats the image i am using for lost.

the best way to do is, to get the folder details from tvtome (not episode browse/lookup) then lookup each episode it will fill the missing info (eg the poster) with the info from the folder.

I think my problem before was separate, maybe. All the testing was trying to look up L&O episdoes. I've tried all ways (w/ and w/o & as well), incl making look how it does after an episode browse, and it doesn't find them. I even tried setting up same way as lost (which odes fine, but is also just one word), but no good. I think I need to try off their site and see how they see it.

I know it's tough to pass of this to search w/ all the quirks, so I'm just playing w/ it in my spare time.

I played around w/ it some more.  I was able to rename reno 911 files to "reno 911 - 2-5" (no zeros in ep), and it found them all.  Did the same for law and order, but it find most names, but no descriptions.

Now I do for dream on, and I get everything, but the it is the only list out of order.  There seems to be no reason to the names sort.  It's odd.  Is there a way to get it to show the ep # in the file name, or edit the skin file to prepend it to the title (I would like the info anyway, but it would help the sort). Even better would be a sort order by episode if you've looked up. This would seemingly be the ideal for a TV list.

Funny side note.  Scanning the dir, I had chappelle's show, and it put box for chris rock show.  I guess any black comedy show will do ;]

To help out, if you are thinking this is something to look into, here's the dream on file list if you need to rercreate. I'm assuming you could make a txt file, change the extension to avi, and then let scan run on it .

im not going to display the episode number, this isnt an easy thing to find out. and the reason why the list is incorrectly sorted is you dont have a 0, eg 2-09. so it is sorting alphabetically, and it is doing it correctly.

the only time the episode number is found is during a episode browse, in episode lookup you can sometimes get the episode number, but its the doesnt cotain the season (eg episode number 54, and the season number could be 3x22).

I had to take out the zeros or it wouldn't find the episodes in the case of the reno 911 episodes. But it seems to sort those ok.

Looks like it's just bad luck on my end.

try using epsiode numbers like 3x22 all my tv series are that way and have been able to get all (yes all) the episode information for every single file (90% via episode lookup the rest via episode browse).

Maybe using scan is the problem. I can get ep scan to work sometimes w/ 1x01 (lost worked), but it always seems to work w/ 1-1. I then go into db, change file names to have 1-01, and then rename files w/ 0, too. That way I get detail, and sort.

Does episode scan use tv tome, too? I want to see how they see files (where I learned to take out 0's is tv tome)

episode browse/lookup both use tv tome, in episode browse for the scan it uses the filename to get the showname from the first part before the first " - " and episode name from the last part after the last " - ". everything else ignored. they use the same lookup method, sometimes a lookup just fails, in the next version if a scan fails it just skips to the next.
