I am a fan of hauppauge! products, but i think this one is not made for me. If this card could receive and use more inputs and the same time, ok, this were a good one. But to pay a lot of $$$ for a card, where i could use just one signaltype at a time... to expensive, compared to my mentioned Technisat CableStar HD2 above.

sub Wrote:Sorry, I dont know anything about this device. The CI module on this device will not work though.
As newyankee mentioned, this one seems to be a rebranded mantis C (like the TerraTec 1501 model). What do you mean by CI module will not work? I could not receive paytv with npvr? Is it a general lack of support, or just with this card?

newyankee Wrote:Should work with nPVR.
The Technisat CableStar HD 2 came today. And i am happy, it works with nPVR out-of-the-box. I was really surprised how easy it was to setup this card with nPVR. Installed drivers, scanned channels, update epg -> et voilá all finished. So fast and easy. Respect sub, great work!

newyankee Wrote:I am out of pure lazyness using a Hauppauge 930c with Kabeldeutschland. But it hasn't proven very reliable nor senstive...
Oh yes... i have read the articles for the 930c. This part seems to be a really bad product.

This one has no HD support, right?

Reddwarf Wrote:I'm using the dvb-c version with cardserver/softcam/smartcardreader and the dvb-t version with CI/CAM and smartcard. Take a look here: http://www.dvbshop24.net or http://www.dvbshop.net
Can you receive pay-tv? What do you have to look for? I have absolutely no idea about this digital things. At the moment i have a smartcard from sky for kabel deutschland and a ci-interface from my Technisat Cablestar HD 2. As far as i know, i should buy a so called "CAM" too. But i have no idea, which one i should buy. *suspect* And further, i don't know (for the moment) if this ci thing would be supported within npvr (i will just use npvr, no other software as mediacenter replacement).

Again i have to thank kindly for all your answers. Your recommandations helped me a lot to read and compare the products with each others and select one card, which has the main properties as mentioned on some other cards here. For now i have one problem: bad receiption. If i raise the strength, my analog channels will get bad and snowy, but digital tv is good. If i lower the strength, my analog channels are perfect, but digital tv is bad. I have to think about a solution for this.

Its a good choice for people that want to do DVB-S/S2 and DVB-C at the same time. ie, its dual tuner, where one tuner does DVB-S/S2, and the other does DVB-T/DVB-C/Analog.

If it is a rebranded Twinhan Mantis, then it should do CI. In general though, CI support is proprietary though, so will only work for the few devices I've specifically added support for (or their clones).

It does HD. There is no difference between cards that do HD vs SD. This is just down to the software. NPVR will do HD with ALL DVB-T/C/S cards.

Is this really possible with this card? I already have 2 hvr-2200 (which supports analog/dvb-t), but i have to decide on each card, what i want to use. I can not use dvb-t / analog separate per tuner.

You might have missed my updates to my post. I was still editing when you replied.

You mean DVB-S at the same time as DVB-C/T/Analog on the HVR-5500? Yes, it does this.

The HD recption is good with the C1500/1501, and Yes you can receive pay-tv. Now to the question of you need a CAM or not. If the smartcard is "paired" to a receiver's or a CAM's serialnumber you need a CAM. If it is not then you can use a Phoenix-type smartcardreader and cardserver/softcam (like NewCS and Acamd) and utilize npvr-s multirecording.

Although the HD HomeRunner seems to be a fanzy piece of technic (really, very impressive!) i am not interested to put another routerlike device in the house. The server has enough slots free. ^.^ What do you mean at future driversupport at FloppyDTV?
HDHR can be hidden away wherever there is 220V and a Network cable. Or you could put it inside the Server cabinet. I did that with the FloppyDTV. It's not really mounted in a Floppy location, but simply lying in there on an internal shelf with the cable routed trough a card slot. Just an option to consider.

FloppyDTV's mother company apparently went through some reconstruction. AFAIR, there was a period where nothing at all happened on this. The company seems to have sold the DVB-business, but I dont't feel comfortable about how the driver support is going to work in a new organisation. So with many other options out there, that is maybe not really worth a recommendation...
