bdgbill Wrote:Thanks for the reply sub. You explanation of the Hauppauge issue makes sense. I wasn't planning on making the jump to NPVR just yet but if it will get me around this roadblock, I'll give it a try.

sub is explaining that you don't really need WinTV at all if you want to run GB-PVR. If you want to run NPVR, then yes, you do need the .ts multiplexor from WinTV7, and my sticky thread has some notes on how to get it.

Yep - if you're using GBPVR, then you dont need the WinTV software at all. Just download the drivers and install them.

If you want a TV app you could get WinTV6 from Hauppauge, at least it was available a while ago and IIRC doesn't require the original disc. I have my original PVR150 retail disk and I don't think WinTV7 would install even with the disk. Or you can try shspvr's builds. Just google on shspvr for his forum.

I think the updated the WinTV6 installer to do the same check.

Update: Almost there. Got GBPVR working. Got Schedules Direct and the remote working. I have video to my TV through HDMI. No sound through HDMI yet but I see that others with this mobo are having the same issue and it seems there are fixes. Thats as far as I got by midnight last night. I didn't realize how rusty I was with this stuff. I hadn't even opened the case on my last machine since 2007.

I am very happy with the Asus mobo so far. The "Express Gate" instant on mini os is very cool and works well. This will not be so useful for a PVR machine but would love to have this on my next laptop. About 6 seconds after hitting the power button, you can have a functioning web browser open.
