I hadn't put two and two together until today, but I think so.

Originally I didn't have something set to record every day, and I've been fiddling with this new setup enough off and on, restarting the server, etc that I hadn't noticed the pattern. But My daughter just recently setup "Boy Meets World" to record every morning, M-F, and they've been failing regularly the last week or so. The one day they worked I believe was when I had stayed up late fiddling with my NMT and thus I think I restarted the server post-EPG update.

What happends if you turn off the automatic epg-update and do it manually for a period of some days?

Anyway, wtg - try turning that setting off.

Turned it off and this morning's "Boy Meets World" recordings came off without a hitch. So it does at least appear that the graphs are getting screwed up after the EPG update. Do you have everything you need sub or is there anything you'd like for me to test?

wait, which thing did you turn off? The "Keep Digital Graphs Constructed" setting, or the automatic EPG update?

I turned off the "Keep Digital Graphs Constructed" setting and for the first morning post-EPG update, "Boy Meets World" recorded successfully.

ok, that's what I thought you meant, but I just wanted to clarify. While the EPG update really shouldn't have any effect, I wonder if somewhere during the update process when NRecord reloads things, it loses track of the status of the already created graphs, so when it goes to use them again hours later it doesn't issue the tuning request that it should. It's more likely something else altogether though. Obviously I'm just guessing in any case.

I know the "Keep Digital Graphs Constructed" option was implemented to solve some problems for HDHR users, but I don't recall the consequences of running an HDHR with it off.

Darn... I was hoping it would solve my HDHR problem not just swap it for another. Smile I searched can't find what exact problem it solved, other than improve speed on channel changes and setting up new recordings. Maybe sub will fill us in, and even better yet figure out where the problem is.

yeah, I'm pretty sure turning off that option and getting the result you got was merely a useful diagnostic, not an actual solution. sub will likely now do what sub does.

The option was originally added as an attempt to work around an issue some HDHR users were having on the second attempt to use the device. This problem was resolved with a later patch, making the "Keep Digital Graphs Constructed" redundant. In theory it couldnt have had a minor speed improvements starting live tv etc, but this wasnt it's primary purpose.

With regard to the "Keep digital grap.." I had to turn it off, else only the first attempt to watch live-tv worked.
